We needed a test – we needed to show our resilience and Genk certainly gave us that opportunity with a very impressive first half performance but we fought back withy real spirt and that’s what pleased the boss most of all on the night.
And speaking to BT Sport he said: “Some of it was good and some of it was not so good on the first 20 minutes. But we showed really good resilience tonight to get back into it and then dominate for long periods. Genk, though always looked dangerous on the break.
“We allowed them to attack us a bit too much and we had to think about that at half time. We were much better in the second half but we are still working hard on creating chances.
“Having said that the boys did a really brilliant job. I think Said Benrahma did really well tonight and was a really big influence on the team.”
