The one that got away- Bayern and PSG joined Hammers in Striker pursuit

Mentioned a number of times in the last few weeks of the transfer window, the mythical young, hungry, pacy and affordable striker that excites fans and which has been so lacking from the Hammers line up for years- has eluded West Ham as they backed away from a second bid in the closing days of the window.

The Hammers offered £13 million for exciting Danish striker Franculino Dju. However it seems that the West Ham  were not alone in their pursuit and were joined as admirers and wannabe owners of Dju by Europes finest, no less that Paris St Germain and Bayern Munich.

As it turned out, nobody came forward with the magic number to convince Dju’s club FC Midtjylland to part with their striker: It seems the Danish side are in no rush to cash in.

The fact that the 21 year old is now on the radar of the European Giants means that West Ham have probably missed their best opportunity to sign the impressive young front man: If Dju is remotely successful this Autumn, Europe’s top sides will be back in for him in January at a far more prohibitive price for West Ham’s limited purse.

Most definitely – Franculino Dju – the one that got away.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

    Uninteresting and Unexciting

Too pricey for the alleged 18th richest club in the world! So many of the contradictions reported relating to West Ham just don’t add up. Anyway, that fiasco is over until January now so Martin, can you do a summary of how the team looks now, average age, squad size, injury risk positions etc?

Backed away but truthfully this is just a bit of Spin by Sullivan to try and make himself look good…”we Tried” as ever…Leopard cannot change its spots

Looks like we ended up with nothing
All those players Sullivan was talking to he could not get one over the line
Why have we let him cock this up again
    Total joke yet again
Does anyone know if we signed anyone??????

It’s worse than that Martin. Reports state Dju had been pushing for a move to the Bundesliga champions, but this now seems unlikely after Bayern agreed terms with Nicolas Jackson. Villa Real have also had a bid rejected.

After the fiasco with lowballing Villa for Jhon Duran and knowing the interest from Champions League clubs why dud West Ham only offer £13 million?
