Looking at west Ham’s injury and fatigue depleted striker trio – two out of three anyway – it is concerning to see Fullkrug sidelined and Antonio – well- knackered- after their trips back to play for their national sides. And, let’s face it, it could have been worse: Fullkrug apparently will be fit after missing just the one game and Antonio’s epic thirty hour round trip should mean he gets back to his best after the weekend, meaning it unlikely that he’ll be anything like ready to play against Fulham.
News from Chelsea that one pf our reported striker targets from earlier this summer has finally departed on loan for the season makes the grim situation of our front line a little more pithy: A 21 year old target from this summer’s activity – what a bonus it could have been if the dice had landed differently.
London World reports that David Datro Fofana has left on a season long loan at Greek side AEK Athens in a ‘bid to secure more game time’. He could certainly have gained that as a Hammer this coming weekend! the striker netted four times whilst on loan to Burnley last season and could have been a young, dynamic addition to any premier league side.
It was rumoured that we’d made an offer of just over £12 million for the Ivory Coast Centre Forward before moving onto focusing our interest in Niclas Fullkrug.
Looks pretty good value for money now, but let’s see how his season in Greece goes before lamenting losing a top striker target. Could be another dud, and I’m sure he’d only have injured himself if he had come to London Stadium, anyway.
