The Outstanding West Ham Player Who Saved Lopetegui’s Bacon

Julen Lopetegui owes a huge debt of gratitude to West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, who did more than anyone to ensure the Hammers boss lived to fight another day.

The Irons captain was simply magnificent against Wolverhampton Wanderers, leading his team to victory with a goal, an assist, and a never-say-die attitude that epitomises his West Ham career.

If rumours are to be believed, it was Bowen who calmed both of Lopetegui’s fallouts with West Ham players this season, following half-time squabbles with Mohammed Kudus and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Bowen hasn’t only been leading behind the scenes but also on the pitch, where he fought tooth and nail to keep his manager in a job with a display of prodigious work rate and skill. If there were any doubts about the players’ commitment to Lopetegui, Bowen’s tireless performance certainly dispelled them, as he led the charge forward in search of a goal.

Whilst the season hasn’t exactly been a classic, Jarrod has continued to improve technically and impress at both club and international levels.

There’s little doubt that the training ground had become a fractured place until recently, and it’s almost certain that Bowen played a key role in unifying and repairing relationships that had clearly broken down.

West Ham and Lopetegui are lucky to have him.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Dreadful performance against a really poor side. If Lopi isn’t gone soon it’s the Championship next season

Equally there’s players who have issues with Lopetegui, he falls out too easily and doesn’t seem to be able to bury a hatchet.

If it was just that then it might be patchable but it isn’t, there’s football issues too. He still needs to go, was never a right appointment in the first place and the let’s see if it works out has run out.

Has Sullivan pulled his hat over his eyes and got noise cancelling pods in his ears!

It’s getting beyond a joke and his actions and inaction show his to be a spineless, clueless and toxic chairman!

He deserves more time to settle the team.team supporter for59years.

He’s had nearly half a season and still can’t get it right. If you can’t see that you need to go to specsavers and get an eye test!

  • Matt says:

Sebastien Hoeness saved an underperforming team that lacked confidence (sounds like us) in a relegation scrap (could be us) and then totally transformed them in to playing European football (could be us)

No manager has better credentials than Hoeness. Did Sullivan say he wanted Champions League football? Aston Villa achieved it after relegation.

Sebastien Hoeness delivered this for Stuttgart (could be us). I’d be happy with just Europa League or even higher up the league challenging for these spots.

Pay Sebastien Hoeness release clause Sullivan and let Tim interview and work fully aligned with a truly progressive coach.

  • Rob says:

Without him he would be gone, he still should be sacked as we were so lucky last night. Penalty s. foul on the player leading to our 2nd. VAR must have had an off day.

    • John says:

Maybe it will come out that David Coote is not the only suspect official and they had a Hammer on VAR for the Wolves and Man Utd games ⚒️🤣

  • Andy says:

Will Bowen want to stay at West Ham if the highest we can hope for is mid table? 🤔

Playing in Europe gave Bowen the chance to play for England. He wants to go the World Cup and unlike Ben White wears the shirt with pride.

It’s time to get Sebastien Hoeness to try and rescue this season to prevent players like Bowen wanting to join ambitious clubs.

So many of our players look unhappy under Loppy. He can’t be trusted to stay much longer. Hoeness could improve the players we already have. We can’t trust Loppy with any player recommendations in January as Rodriguez and Soler have proved. Hoeness would have time to assess and bring in players agreed with Tim.

Bowen is truly ambitious. Sullivan needs ambition by appointing Hoeness so we can achieve and be considered a club where top talent wants to come and play!

    • Rich Mills says:

Teams in the bottom half of the Premiership tend to struggle to attract or retain quality players.

Strong leadership and ambition from the board is crucial right now to prevent our demise!

      • John says:

C&H will probably give us news from their top source that this clueless clown has support from the board and will continue as our coach.

        Wait for it……..
