The Paqueta waiting game continues

Image for The Paqueta waiting game continues

At midnight last night, club sources strongly believed they would be given the verdict on the Lucas Paqueta hearing sometime today (Friday)

Multiple sources later confirmed that information, but Friday has come and gone, and now, as we enter the evening, an announcement is unlikely to be made today.

It appears the FA has yet again let Paqueta, his club and the supporters down once more by making us all wait.

When Claret and Hugh checked in today with a club source, we were told: “I think supporters will find out 24 hrs later, but you never know with the FA”

I will be surprised if the FA comms team will work this weekend, so a weekend announcement seems out of character for them.

We now face the prospect that this will run into next week as the FA continue to bungle the whole process from start to end.

I hope they prove me wrong and make a statement later tonight.

FA comms team?? A juggernaut of a beast. The FA will not be ready to tell anyone about Lucas Paqueta until after the comms team have sorted how they can emerge from the Man City fiasco without loss of face.

Both of them in the team are only part-time and there is much to explain. I think the reports of a late February announcement concerning Lucas could also be optimistic. There will be nothing definite anytime soon. Faces need to be saved. Bucks need to be passed.

This whole process has ineptitude scrawled all over it from start to finish and as a result any guilty verdict will be open to challenge and then further delay. If I was West Ham I would be seeking legal advice on potential litigation against the FA should we come out on the wrong side of this.
