The prodigal returns?

Interesting news from our friends at talkSPORT as the former on-loan Jesse Lingard is reportedly back training at West Ham following his release from Nottingham Forest

Should we be excited by a player who snubbed us for the joys of Forest, I don’t know , as the now 30-year-old is  available on a free transfer.

It has been said that Lingard trained with the Irons on Monday to keep his fitness up.

He had a memorable impact during his loan spell at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

He chipped in with nine goals and five assists in 16 top-flight games to help us to a sixth-placed finish.

I think we all thought he was nailed on to stay with us but he decided to move on.

Being charitable, he has not had the best of times since.

On his day, perhaps one of the most skilful players in the Premiership.

Should we give him a second chance?

It’s a NO from me. But thanks for the memories, Jesse. It was good while it lasted, short though it was. But your attitude and greed shone through in the end. And that left a bigger impression than your footballing talent.

  • Legin says:

Yes, depending on fitness. If Paqueta goes there are few talented options available to us at this time. If Moyes can get him to perform he will fit the bill.

Never go back after a great party, it will never be the same again. We need a proper recruitment plan, not hook a duck.

100% as a good replacement for the departed Lanzini. We all make mistakes and I think he still has something to offer.

  • RuislipHammer says:

Definitely not in my view. He did a great job in his loan spell but stupidly/greedily chose Forest over us and wasted their money. A talented player but that ship has sailed, I hope..

The current minimum wage is £10.42 per hour so should do nicely!

No No No. Lingard can do one. He kept us on a piece of string for two transfer windows. Only for him to snub us & go to Forrest. He made his decision Now live with it. I can’t believe Moyes is even considering Lingard. It just goes to show Moyes is hell bent on signing Manure old past it cast offs. I think if we do sign him the anti Moyes reaction will be the most toxic.
F Off Lingard. You’re not wanted here. If he is signed I want the crowd ti let their feelings known throughout the games towards Lingard & Moyes. They can both F Off

Lingard is worth a short term deal. It’s hardly a gamble, having seen what he can do in 2021.
He did nothing wrong in seeing out his Manchester United contract, and if he chose Nottingham Forest on a one year deal, it was his prerogative to do so.
Only our seasoned idiots will give him a hard time if he signs.

  • johnham1 says:

Absolutely not, he made his decision and he should not even be training with us if we had a proper manager. Imagine signing this idiot and denying other players playing time.

  • Limey says:

I’m OK with Lingard returning to West Ham, for the right price, of course, and only IF his inclusion stops them signing a real prospect.
