Despite the jeopardy for Julen Lopetegui being temporarily removed, the Hammers’ head coach is still under pressure. A shaky victory against lowly Wolves last Monday was deemed sufficient to keep him in -post for the time being, but another couple of banana -skins await as matches come thick and fast: Next up are Bournemouth and then 7th placed Brighton and Hove Albion await five days later.
Lose them both and West Ham could again be teetering on the brink of firing the hapless Spaniard.
The positive news for West Ham’s management -apart from Lopetegui himself, that is- and for supporters is that the top candidates to replace him have renounced other options and are now queued, all three waiting for the call from David Sullivan.
Graham Potter, as discussed by Matt this morning is keen to step in to Lopetegui’s shoes and is not interested in the Wolves’ vacancy if Gary O’Neil is fired: As report today:Give me Sport “Massimiliano Allegri is not interested in taking charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, [The Athletic has reported]:..The Italian tactician, along with ex-Chelsea coach Graham Potter, reportedly has no interest in the Molineux role,”
And the news for West Ham gets better:”Former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao... has also been ruled out.”
So, many people’s top trio of candidates to become West Ham’s next head coach are all still in the frame and unlikely to be out of the picture in the next two weeks.
So, the way I see it, it could be a ‘win-win’ – for Hammer’s fans: Either the club grabs points and heads away from the lower echelons of the league, or Lopetegui is replaced by a top, top candidate – any of those three will do nicely, thank you Santa.
MARK NOBLE for manager
No Potter won’t do. Brighton did better after he had moved on and he was gound wanting at Chelsea when he allowed himself to be beaten by those big egos that the players there had. That’s his weakness.
Potter has a 29% win ratio which is pathetic. Allegri is yet another old school manager well past his best, that leaves us with Sergio Conceicao.
I would say as they are all immediately available this fits the Sullivan ideal choices and not the fans.
Hoeness is the outstanding choice that plays 4-2-3-1 which suits our squad. The problem is his release clause and nationality neither of which Sullivan is a fan of.
The only thing we can be guaranteed of is that whoever Sully appoints will be the worst option.
While JLo remains in charge the worse it gets if the reports are true we have at least 3 top managers waiting for a call to take over with Sullivan dithering about the chances are that those managers will have gone elsewhere the owners have got to get their act together and get rid of JLo asap and decide who will take his place all this one more game to save JLo from the sack is a complete farce he has proved time and again that he has no idea what he’s doing
Trouble is, whoever comes in will be under fire from this website within a month or so, and so the vicious circle will continue without escape. Nobody will ever be deemed good enough for long.
Not just this website Davey. No one is satisfied anymore anywhere. The most extreme will only be satisfied when Sullivan visits Satan’s abode and Steidten is sanctified by the Pope.
Spurs fans are no different. They are turning on Big Ange when their chairman (Levy) has failed in his role of bringing them success.
The problem here is that the reset button was pressed by the so desperate not to be wrong Sullivan and therefore a horrible defeat to Bournemouth followed by a horrible defeat to Brighton followed by some sort of crappy win against Southampton will once again ( in Sullivan’s eyes ) reset Westham just in time for Liverpool , Man City and then Fulham at which time the January window is almost done . Perhaps this is Sullivan’s plan to limp through until the end of the season to save himself a few quid .
In loppy we trust COYI!
Potter has been away too long to sort this mess out
Personally cannot see Allegri wanting to come to England at West Ham he has already turned down prem clubs he would have done it as a younger man
That leave Sergio C He would do for me great choice
Let’s get it done
I can’t see us winning all 3 matches So the sooner the better
Why wait any longer
absolutely, TBH I’d be happy with any of the trio
Next West Ham manager odds…
Graham Potter – 2/5
Kasper Hjulmand – 7/2
Edin Terzic – 5/1
Sergio Conceicao – 6/1
Michael Carrick – 16/1
Jose Mourinho – 25/1
Massimiliano Allegri – 25/1
Maurizio Sarri – 25/1
Sebastian Hoeness – 25/1
Will Still – 33/1
I’ll be amazed if we take anything from Bournemouth or Brighton, I really cant see Lopetegui being about for long.
Shame the two coaches at the bottom of the odds listing are the best options and the ones above show a lack of a long term strategy.
