The Rebuild I West Ham’s Incredible Transfer Wheeler-Dealing

West Ham United appear to have transformed last season’s threadbare squad with some clever wheeling and dealing in the transfer market. With the successful capture of the Championship’s Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville announced just today, many ask what the impact of all this activity is on the Hammers’ finances.

Thanks to C&H’s Sean Whetstone, who compiled a list of transfer comings and goings, it seems that the Hammers will have a net spend of just under £70 million once all current deals are completed.

This figure does not yet account for potential departures such as Kurt Zouma, Danny Ings, Maxwel Cornet, Nayef Aguerd, and possibly one midfielder.

Here is the updated list for your viewing pleasure.

Outbound Sales:

– Kehrer to Monaco: £9.3 million
– Trott to Copenhagen: £1.3 million
– Benrahma to Lyon: £12.2 million
– Downes to Southampton: £15 million plus £3 million in add-ons

Total: £37.8 million in transfer fees without add-ons or £40.8 million with add-ons

Inbound:

– Luis Guilherme: £19.5 million
– Max Kilman: £40 million
– Wes Foderingham: Free
– Crysencio Summerville: £25 million (estimated max) plus £8 million in add-ons
– Niclas Füllkrug: £22 million plus £3.5 million in add-ons
– Guido Rodriguez: Free

Total: £106.5 million without add-ons or £118 million with add-ons

Net Spend: £68.7 million without add-ons or £77.2 million with add-ons.

Obviously we’d hope this list will soon have Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £15 million – ish-fee to add in, but at time of writing on Saturday that deal is still in the pipeline.

Between the duo of Steidten and Lopetegui, that is some serious activity in a flurry which has left many surprised at the speed with which the deals are coming over the line. Exciting times indeed to be a Hammers fan.

    Go on the Irons.

Best transfer window I have ever seen and if we get all the signings we are saying we are getting, we will have a formidable team.

  • Phil McDonald says:

Need to add in the loan fees for Kehrer and Benrahma mate. Plus save wages during the loan too I suppose.

  • Jon says:

And you missed fornals 8mil from January
With 5 out for ****ty Phillips loan

  • Daniel cullen says:

If we don’t sign another Cb I would prefer Zouma Jwp and ings gone still think conet and agured add depth but if we can get a new Cb then we need to sell and make sure we get as close to what we want

And for those who wonder why I say JWP there is something about soucek that always makes me think he can change a game

  • ricardo says:

Another central defender -Todibo? Solet?- might still increase the bill (unless we keep Aguerd). Interestingly Transfermarkt gives similar valuations for Aguerd and Todibo.

  • Len says:

All the players like Ings Cornet
JWP soucek could be better players in a more attack minded system. Zouma is just not fit to play at this level.

  • Steve says:

What’s so great is we’ve improved on everyone we sold
    Killman > Kehrer
    Summerville > Benrahma
    Rodriguez > Downes
And then of course finally getting that striker!
(Please AWB plus maybe another CB too!)

  • Hornchurch Hammer says:

I wonder how many of these players would have signed for Moyes. I think having a next level manager like Lopetegui enables you to sign next level players. A step up in class overall from our usual signings, (obvious exceptions not included, Paqueta, Mo plus others but we were in Europe then). Very refreshing transfer window and looking forward to seeing the new boys in action.

  • SydneyC says:

If we had been told at the beginning of the window that we would be signing one of the best rated under-20’s in Brazil, the Captain of a Premier league club, a current World Cup winning midfielder, last years Championship player of the season, and a striker who played in last season Champions League final, none of us would have believed it.
    But here we are.
If we get AWB and another CB, Tim’s name should be sung from the rafters.

Would have been interesting to see if Said Benrahma would be able to get in to Julen’s team. No doubt that DM would have liked the backing of new players en masse. He was given a few lemons and asked to suck them whilst still producing West Ham Way winning football.
Good luck to Julen – he should have a better squad to blend and hit the pitch running. Especially without the anchor of another successful European campaign. No excuses this season.

Being a patient, rational and normal person, let me say this – after all the hard work and feverish activity of the window so far, I’m quite happy with the decent and varied transfers we have sorted so far. It’s looking like a pretty good window, and with other possible transfers mentioned, it can only get better. But I do think it’s time that C&H took a long look at it’s self and apologised for all the whinging, slating and slagging off you have done over the past 2 or 3 weeks. It also just goes to show that your “TOP” source (because you always quote them as your “TOP” source at the club) isn’t really of any consequence and that you have become a website that thrives more on clicks than actually writing decent articles in support of the club. No wonder our fan base is so polarised with all the gossip, rumour and sh*t stirring that your website posts. You even like to post your conspiracy theories saying things like Fulkrug was being chased to help lower the price of Duran. But what concerns me is even if that was the case, why would you report it? Maybe in the hope everyone gets to know so it hurts our transfer dealings? It’s a shame that your standards are now so low that you will post anything just to get an article out there for a few clicks. I’m sure you all think your justification is freedom of speech, or freedom of the press. Here’s some news for you – you aren’t members of the press, and a lot of the articles you are posting are more likely to actually hurt our club than help it. I think you should all be apologising for the spam and rubbish you have been writing as last week you were saying how bad things were and was Dithering Dave involved, and a few days later suddenly it’s now a lot of back tracking and “best window ever” and “inTim we trust.” You lot at C&H are so two faced and fickle. You guys like to jump on anything and everything if it means you can write some BS about it, and then a few days later your opinions take the exact opposite position. I definitely think you all have a lot to answer for, considering how divided and polarised our club and fan base are. I only come back here now and then to see if anything has changed, and clearly it hasn’t. Shame on you all, call yourself West Ham supporters? Judging by the rubbish you continue to post, I don’t!

      Top skills 👍👍

    • elduder says:

      drama for clicks/cash

ex is probably the worst offender of the lot, the only thing he is serving is himself, no benefit to the club at all

rumours are fine, speculation is fine – but selling bs as fact isn’t

  • Ian the sub says:

I read on Sunday that Wan_BISSAKA. doesn’t want to join W.H. is my other source rong are. you even further behind current news . if correct the obvious reason for the prolonged delay.!!

    • Martin Treasure says:

He went off injured yesterday, so that’d be the reason for a ‘pause..’ anyway

  • elduder says:

i don’t think AWB is the right player for lop

i suspect we will move on to a fullback thats a little more offensive like emerson, would be a better fit with how lop will use his wingbacks

  • Ian the sub says:

that’s only half the answer MARTIN. and if he is not the right player for the new regime why have they spent so much wasted time. trying to pursued him to join us. I’m of the old school that sais a player should want to play. for W.H. ( incidentally an attitude that can be. established in principle EARLY) So whatever we think it is the coach ‘s view that counts .. and he should know if A.W B. can fit in.
