The return of the Sam Allardyce poll

samFormer West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has been linked as a possible candidate as caretaker manager should the board decide to replace Slaven Bilic in the near future.

Earlier today ClaretandHughย discovered that alongside a plan to approach Guus Hiddink as a possible caretaker boss Allardyce too is in the frame for what would be a dramatic and possibly unwelcome return to the club by some.

The Hammers have put out several calls to potential candidates but Hiddink and Allardyce areย currentlyย the most serious runners in the race to replace the Croatian so far.

Tonight we gauge the supporters reaction for a return of Big Sam to West Ham.ย  Our poll asks would you accept Sam Allardyce as a caretaker boss for the remainder of the season or given the choice would you stick with Slaven Bilic and face the consequences even if it included relegation.

Think we needed a third choice – neither!!

  • cas_blue says:

Ridiculous poll. Some people love playing devils advocate.

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

You been up the hospital yet basil ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  • ric vespa says:

No!! Terrible poll. Donโ€™t want either

  • happyhammer101 says:

You’re asking us to choose between the anti-Christ of football and a man who has consistently proved incapable of motivating a group of professional athletes. I’d take anyone other than Slav right now.
But, here’s a name – Vladimir Petkoviฤ‡. Currently Swiss national team manager. Very good record for Switzerland and previously, Lazio. The Swiss play some great football.

  • hammers64 says:

Lets get right to the point here. This disastrous slide in form, the shape of the team, and the awful transfers started after that great 1st season under Bilic. An awful Summer transfer window proven by the fact that every player signed with the exception of Quina and fernandes( who are for the future anyway) have now left the club.Last season never got going and we flattered to deceive finishing mid table and thats what kept Bilic in a job when in reality the owners should have got rid then.Club record transfer on Arnoutovic who looks completely uninterested and so it goes on, and now a team in turmoil with a manager who knows he is on the brink and only in a job because a ready replacement is not available 9 games into a new season. This is not hindsight as most Hammers fans could see all this coming and yet there are people at this Great club who get payed thousands each week and have reduced it to this.Owners need to grow a pair and get someone in now on a temporary basis and see how it goes as Bilic has lost it all now and sticking with him is like digging a deeper grave for this season.

This poll is like last nights game. Pointless.

  • bashammer11 says:

You “discovered” a plan from where?and then you give us a loaded gun question.

No i dont want slavin bilic for even one more game and equally i dont want that fat f****r anywhere near our club.

  • Hazzy says:

The options you’ve offered in this poll really aren’t good enough Sean. All readers of this forum should simply abstain. Although perhaps that’s exactly the response you wanted, lol.

    • Giving a don’t know option or another option on this would be an easy way out. I created the poll only to find out if the majority of fans would welcome Big Sam back short-term and the answer appears to be Yes, the majority (59%) seem to be content with that option.

      • master says:

So essentially the majority of (presumably male) fans would rather get kicked in the balls by someone they don’t like than continue getting kicked in the stomach by a mate.

Rubbish choices, but at least a difference.

      • Mattwhite76 says:

I can’t stand the board, but like allardyce. Am I the only one?

      • jimbo says:

Sean, you’re missing the point I’m afraid. The majority are not content with the BFS option and you know it. We’d give our right arms to see Bilic gone and had the poll been Laz’s dog coming in as a temporary replacement, we’d have voted for it. Not because we want it, but because it means Bilic has gone!!!
Apologies to Laz’s dog by the way!

      • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Canโ€™t agree with your logic there Sean, some people will press a choice just to see the result, if there was a none of the above button am fairly certain that would have won, most people I speak to donโ€™t want the dross served up by either manager they want fresh blood versed in the modern game.

  • Hazzy says:

My my. What short memories those 59% must have.

  • alboy says:

    Another complete pile of ****e

  • Michael Miller says:

No, I can’t vote for either of these choices – BFS is a definite no-no and Bilic is clueless – where do we go from here? It’s beyond me!

  • GW says:

    This is a joke isnโ€™t it ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

  • Hammer64 says:

Agree Hammers64 (with an ‘s’). Good comments my brother! Particularly agree that this situation is a car crash that could & should have been seen coming by those at the top.

Regarding Allardyce. There is also the fact that he has turned down a few jobs already. Even if he decided the time was now right to return I think he would not touch the owners ( or us the supporters come to that) with a barge pole. His comments about DS have been polite but the scorn showed through. His comments about us are well known.

Personally I just want this club to lose its joke status. The ‘West Ham Way’ has been used as a stick to beat us for some time, but now the new stadium & the ‘next level’ stuff ( yeah right the next one down) have been added to it. Personally i didn’t have strong feelings one way or the other about Allardyce, but I appreciate that for a fair number he is Public Enemy No 1 & a return would therefore not work. But he did go some way to changing that joke status & I would be happy with just about anybody who can do that again.

  • Hammer64 says:

Pardew’s hands did not look very safe in the autumn of 2006 Michael Miller. Possibly even worse than now as I remember.

  • Aussiedave15 says:

My concern is, if SB is still in charge in January, how many of our so called stars will want to be there during the January window?
I fear that if the board take no action, not only will we have uninterested players we will have unmotivated players.
At this early stage we need to remain in this league, not get relegated and spend 2 to 3 years getting back up. If the board need any warning……this would be financial suicide!
As for BFS….kill me and any chance of decent football now!!

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

They are already uninterested and not motivated aussie !!!
That’s just one of the problems lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Carrerageorge says:

Who or what is the source of this silly link? the result was awful but he players fought gamely a man down v Burnley and with ten men matched how Tinpot and Liverpool did against them. If Bilic is sacked would it be too early in his career for someone such as Nolan?

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

Yes ! Retire Carroll. And we could team all 3 up again , the three amigo,s ? What could go wrong ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

So you thought my post about the dog was tippex material was it ! How sad !! ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I think Bilic must have been a cat in a former life, he has already had too many lives get shot pls he is nearly as bad as Avram.

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

My dog still wants the job !! He said he will go without the bonios but still wants to ๐Ÿ’ฉ in the hobbits office carpet every morning and for his win bonus,s hump lady spuds leg ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    • jimbo says:

In which case Laz your dog gets my vote mate. Perhaps we can convince Sean to run a new poll – Slav, BFS or your dog? Know who my money is on cos he’d do a better job than the other two!

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

Woof woof woof. ๐Ÿฉ he agrees mate ! He said he will have them chasing that ball down like whippets chasing hairs , but when I asked him about noble he just pointed to the kennel ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
