West Ham’s accounts show in vivid detail the ever-rising costs that have partially contributed to the clubs’ record loss. Overall wages rose to £176m, an increase of 9%, and the wage to revenue now stands at 77% from 60% the previous season.

West Ham Vice Chairman Karren Brady’s pay increased by 2.44% last season from £1.437m to £1.472m, some £35,000.

The Baroness’ total pay at West Ham is now £16.7m and over £18m by the end of this season.

The West Ham 2011 financial accounts show the club paid the Hammers Vice Chairman £256,000 for the first time.

That increased to £427,000 in 2012 and then hiked to a massive £1.634m in 2013, of which £1m was a bonus paid over 5 years for winning the bid to move to the London Stadium.

In 2014 her basic rose by just £2,000 to £636,000, rising by a further £10,000 to £646,000 in 2015.

2016 saw another big rise to £907,000 before a slight decrease in 2017 to £868,000.

2018 was another bumper year with a base salary of £898,00 plus a consultant fee of £438,000 paid to a company controlled by Brady for introducing Tripp Smith as an investor, making her annual total £1.336m.

In 2019, her pay rose from £898,000 to £1.136m, a rise of 27% for that season.

In 2020, her pay was reduced to £1,027m during the pandemic before increasing again to £1.331m in 2021; last season, we saw her pay rise to £2.24m, including a £1m bonus.

The 2022/2023 season saw her salary fall to £1.357m before rising again by £80,000 to £1.437m in 2023/24 and £1.472m last season 2024/25.

Up to the end of last season, Brady’s total pay has reached over £16m (£16,698,000).

Hi Sean, she’s worth every penny I am sure! She deserved a huge pay rise for her brilliance in bringing us the world class players in our world class stadium, when you add in her part in the amazing appointment of one of the worlds best managers graham potter who came in and totally transformed us into a free flowing winning machine you realise just what a fantastic job she continues to do. Long may it continue as the club goes from strength to strength both on and off the field

Worth every penny. Karren is doing a brilliant job and her remuneration compares well with all of her anonymous peers in the industry. Most of these peers move on to fresh challenges after a couple of years. Avoids the criticism and any blame. Karren has stuck with it and we are all still here.

Just for the record, Birmingham City Council offered their bin men an increase of much more than 2.44% last year but they remain on strike. These figures never tell the whole story.

Did Sullivan not say, when he and Gold purchased the club, that old lady Brady’s wages, would be paid by Sullivan and Gold personally and not the club ??

  • Nelly says:

You can see where she spent the cash. Doesn’t matter how hard you polish a turd, sprinkle glitter over it. It’s still a turd underneath

  • keith astley says:

Sean, how does the Baroness’s wages compare with other vice chairmen of Premier League clubs?

  • Sue says:

    Me the same
    That wage is ridiculous
You get a pay rise if you are doing a good job
In my job if you ran a business like this and lost so much money you would get the sack
    Should be a
On a performance pay and a bonus if the club does well
Where does she think that she has earns that sort of money to take from our poor club.
No wonder the club is in such a financial mess
I’ve read if the club are relegated the players wages are halved, do I assume that means for the owners as well
This is shameful, if upon were running the club well I would not have a problem, but your not

  • Hmm says:

Hmm over 16 million. Not bad wages. I wish they’d given me a shout. Ok I haven’t got Karen Brady’s business credentials but I would have done the job for them all those years for a remuneration of merely 10 million or so.
