Honest Slaven Bilic gave chapter and verse on the injury problems and the reasons why he thinks we have been suffering so badly – now and down the years.
There is now no need for anybody to come up with bizarre conspiracy theories – the main man has spoken and is certainly not ready to put the issues down to bad luck.
In fact, not many would but Slaven’s blunt and to the point approach will go down very well indeed with every fan who simply asks to be told the truth – he really is proving himself a top bloke. And that’s the truth too!
Nobody with half a brain cell would accept that it’s a coincidence when injuries continue to decimate the squad season in season out.
Nor is it a coincidence that we are fed lines about why that’s the case and for that reason we all need to give it up for the new manager.
In explaining that we are off to Rush Green he said: “There have been a lot of things said since I came here about the pitches that we have here at Chadwell Heath, and they’re not ideal.
“If you saw Reidy’s injury, he slipped because our pitches are very soft on the surface, but underneath they are very, very hard, so that’s the worst combination.
“I don’t see any other reason because we have a good medical team and good players and the sessions are good, and I told you that since I came here it was an issue – last year, two years ago or five years ago. It has nothing to do with the groundsmen or the medical staff – it’s just the way the ground is here.”
Now the big question is why has it taken so long to tell everybody honestly what lies at the bottom of one of our biggest problems.
There really isn’t a reason and at last we have a man at the helm who genuinely tells the truth rather than pay lip service to it.
And that may even be a first in this old game!
Well, we will soon know for sure now they have moved over to the new ground. It’s never just bad luck in anything is it. There’s always a reason.
Fans have been blaming the Chadwell Heath facility’s for years and its always been dismissed…. Seams we were right after all.
