The Verdict Is In | Hammers Fans Give Their ‘Lopetegui Stay Or Go’ Judgement

The fall-out from the weekends dire result – the latest in a series of dire results – of the 3-0 drubbing at Nottingham Forest continues to rumble on. As a reaction to gauge Hammers’ fans’ opinions, yesterday our associate editor Sean Whetstone ran his poll on twitter X. We published the twitter page on Claret and Hugh to allow our readers to take part.

In a pretty overwhelming response it is clear which way respondents feel the wind is blowing:  Of those replying to the question “Do you back head coach Julen Lopetegui to turn things around  with results at West Ham this season?”

The response was 85% No and 15% Yes.

What is striking is that unlike the issues surrounding previous Manager David Moyes – over whom the fan base seemed divided 50:50 between ‘Moyes In and Moyes Out’ – no such division with Julen Lopetegui.

It seems 10 league matches and a couple of cup games is sufficient for thousands to say – we’ve seen enough’.

The real test comes at the weekend: Will David Sullivan keep to his premise that ‘Everton is a must-win game’? From this response, clearly thousands of Hammers fans sincerely hope that Lopetegui will not be staying at the club.

Maybe we will start on a winning run and everything settles down.. Maybe.

Lop the flop couldn’t organise a raffle absolutely no idea what he’s doing. Get him out asap before he ruins the team and sullivan and the board should follow him out the door

  • Ray Tatum says:

Sack the manager now before it’s to late , give Mark Noble a chance ,his heart has been on west hams success throughout his career, do it now ,not in the new year

  • Paul says:

At the end of the day it all boils down to ”MONEY” and us being ”SKIN-FLINTS” back in the summer-window. i’m talking about not signing Duran for 45 mill what’s he worth now after a 1/4 of the season and he was not far short of begging us to buy him with the crossed-hammers-sign ? instead we sign the 31 yo German with all the back-log of injuries that go with him for 30 mil. and then we don’t pay the release claus of 8.3 mil for Amorim and where is he now M.U.

And then a couple of months ago there’s talk going around that we gotta sell Kudus for his release clause of 85 mil. money money money it makes me ****ing-sick.

    C O Y I

  • Keith Smith says:

Sack him now we can get another Manager to work out tactics that do win matches.

  • Lee Worrell says:

It’s a NO BRAINER!, , Sack him now, let MARK NOBLE deputise interim ‘, then the board HAS to put out a viable package for a WORLD CLASS MANAGER ASAP! . The team is appalling as is,, however at least they’d be more likely to give 100pcnt under NOBLE I’m certain.

  • David Moyes says:

Maybe just maybe ? 😂😂😂 what planet are you on ?
After Everton we’ve got Newcastle away and Arsenal at home,2 games where we will get absolutely smashed in.
    Here’s the question for you….
Have you seen a worse team in the Prem than us this season ? I haven’t and I include Wolves, Southampton and Ipswich in that, all those teams have a structure a way of playing,we do not, this chimp of a Manager doesn’t know his ******** from his elbow and that’s all on Sullivan for going cheap yet again.
Going down unless he’s replaced asap

    • Paul Taylor says:

I was thinking much the same thing all the other team’s seem organised and have a clear tactical plan and style. I honestly can’t see us winning enough games as we are unable to defend and keep a clean sheet. Never thought European football was realistic but equally never thought we would be in a relegation battle but so far I’ve seen nothing from Lopetegui to suggest he’s capable getting us to safety.

    • Lee Worrell says:

Agreed 👍. MARK NOBLE shud stand in, till the board BLOODY WAKES UP and gets a viable package together for a WORLD CLASS MANAGER

  • Andy Stone says:

I’m struggling to think of a worse coach/manager in the Premier League ever. Yes there’s those that have lost their jobs with less points but that’s with much lesser players.
Can anyone suggest a more incapable coach than Lopetegui? It’s a real head scratcher to me.
    What are that 15% thinking?

  • Phil says:

A sad situation instigated by an owner that wants best value for money manager, not the manager that can take us forward and I fear he will hire terzic who wasn’t liked at dortmund

  • Phil Baker says:

Only those who believe in magic could seriously think that JOKEpetegui could bring Westham up to a Euro finish . Westham have looked like they could lose almost every game and there’s no evidence to suggest otherwise . Keeping him any longer is just a waste of time .

  • Hammeroo says:

Will a draw against the Toffees be enough to see Loppy sacked? And which Hammer is in line to be sent off this weekend?

  • Ray says:

Wow! 15% of West Ham fans are OK with what we have witnessed over the last 5 months? That is a scary thought.
I’ve been saying it since August, Lopetegui is a fraud and has no business in the role of coach at West Ham.

  • Wag says:

This manager worse then grant, git rid now

  • Alan says:

I’ll be shocked if Sullivan sacks him this soon. Completely goes against the grain of how he usually operates. Especially given that Lopetegui was his choice.

We’ll have Guillem Balagué telling us what an awful club and fans we are if we do. Lops own personal cheerleader.
