From yesterday afternoon came a couple of reports to suggest that the ‘Guido Rodriguez’ departure‘ story is gaining traction and in fact already progressing. Time to get the flags out.

Far better to admit that his was a bad signing and move him on, replacing with a fitter, younger and more mobile option.

Spanish site well connected with La Liga, fichajes.net ran a headline yesterday evening entitled: “The midfielder for which Betis is already negotiating for January”, Suggesting that communications are already underway.

The article goes onto suggest an initial loan arrangement would be probable as the swiftest method to get him out of London, as the Spanish side have a big deficiency in their own midfield (how ironic!): “The green-and-white team has emergencies in the center of the field and this footballer could be the right one to strengthen the squad during the next transfer market.”

“With previous experience and knowledge of Betis’ style of play, Guido could be the ideal man to cover the casualties [injuries] and restore balance to Manuel Pellegrini’s team in the second half of the season.”

Back in those halcyon days of August when we thought West Ham had signed a terrier not a tortoise

Tricky negotiations ahead, his salary at West Ham was reportedly about five times his Betis pay. But if talks are underway it only uplifts those of us who have watched with concern the dismal performances  of West Ham’s slow midfield under Lopetegui.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

Surely thats the problem with having a foreign director of football, he will more than likely bring in other foreigners. I fully agree that Loopy has to go, but “our Tim” as I see him referred to has as much to answer for imo

Kelvin Phillips is English and has played all of his career in England.

Moyes paid £6m and £150k p/w and he was an absolute disgraceful signing.

Amazing to think we nicked him out of the clutches of Barcelona…you couldn’t make it up…

Westham have found a way to lose money on a free transfer . Sounds like another scam to go with the Brazilian scammers , Scamkrug and SCAMpetegui himself who always gets off with a pay off .

It makes no difference if they are British or not. Plenty of foreign players come to the Premier League and hit the ground running. This happens all the time. The problem with Rodriguez isn’t that he’s not born in Britain, it’s that he’s so slow that he can’t compete. This issue should have been noticed before we signed him. The scouting has to be better.

Along with implementing some youth into the Squad this has been the other great mistake this season.buying foreign players who have never played in the English league and then finding they just cannot cope with the sheer pace and aggression of the whole thing.we have been totally overrun in the engine room of midfield this season.Maybe time to buy British again.

Don’t forget the dreadful last signing made by Moyes …… Kalvin Phillips!

If you trust managers to sign players that play slow football you get Phillips & Rodriguez.

It doesn’t matter what nationality they are. It’s all about their energy, style of play and if ultimately they are good enough.
