The suggestion that Rúben Amorim was on the verge of joining the Hammers after agreeing personal terms before he flew to London is ridiculous.
Historically West Ham do not pay other clubs’ compensation for managers, and they never have. After the Manuel Pellegrini experiment, the Hammers are wary paying big money for a manager in wages, so it is very much a case of once bitten, twice shy!
It is true that Amorim flew to London for a meeting with a West Ham senior figure but his cunning plan to force Liverpool’s hand to come in for him backfired and he went back to Lisbon with his tail between his legs apologising to his Lisbon club, players and fans for his ill-thought-out actions.
At that point Lopetegui was already the primary target so from a Wet Ham point of view, it did no harm in concentrating his and his agent’s mind to agree his head coach personal terms at a reported €4m (£3.3m) per season.
Amorim reportedly wanted €10m per season (£8.3m) to manage in the Premier League which is want he has asked Manchester United – which re-enforces why it is laughable that personal terms were agreed by West Ham before the plug was pulled by a prominent shareholder.
A senior source has since confirmed that Amorim was considered too much of a gamble by the West Ham board with his compensation and wage demands an additional factor in their thinking.
In truth, West Ham spoke with many experienced coaches in their hunt to replace David Moyes, the Amorim story came to be in the public domain after photos of him boarding a private jet and reports were leaked by people close to him.
If that’s the truth that’s shocking. The amount of capital wasted on player and loans and we won’t pay £10-11 million for a manger and staff. And £9 million a year.
Don’t the other board members pull Sullivan up, don’t they realise that he is undermining the value of his players.
We are going to get knocked out of the cup and be lucky to finish in the top half. We have a big history a big stadium, world class players, potentially great young players, a director of football he appointed.
The final piece was to get a manager that works he is desperate for the cheap option all the time how is that being shrewd?
How can we go from Looking at Amorim and his attacking style to JL it proves there is no direction to the club regarding ethos about the future or style it seems since Bilic the prerequisite seems to be you to be mid to late 50s and unemployed.
The gaslighting Brady blaming fans about Moyes and nobody wanted the new manager people wanted Amorim so this appointment is on Sullivan why can’t he let Steitdan do the job he was brought in for he can’t let go can he.
Sullivan went for the CHEAP option . A mediocre manager will only ever produce mediocre or poor results . This is why in the last 50 years Westham have never been anything but mediocre or poor . As proven in many leagues , it’s better to have a brilliant manager and an average squad because a brilliant manager will get the squad playing as a great team as opposed to the incoherent rubbish that we’ve seen at Westham .
It is funny to see sources close to the club (aka Sullivan) come out, defend the appointment of Lopetegui and claim there was never I deal for Amorim.
I believe Steidten had done most of the legwork and the only remaining part was for Amorim to have a talk with Sullivan to seal the deal. Otherwise, managers don’t fly to the interested club at that point in a season. Don´t be ridiculous.
However, Sullivan, incapable of showing any sort of ambition refused it and went for the “safe option”. Lope will not turn out to be the safe option in the end, I’m sure.
Stop trying to ship these bullshit stories now. Everyone knows what happened and nobody is going to believe this Sullivan puppets, who are now trying full force to make him look like less of an idiot.
