The West Ham window countdown starts

So as was widely expected it will be a very quiet West Ham transfer window following the breakdown of talks between Chelsea and ourselves over the Michy Batshuyai 12 week loan deal.

Had we managed to get rid of Chicharto, Lucas Perez or both then maybe a deal would have been on but adding £170k personal terms to the wage bill with million in loan costs and agent’s fee of £3 million made it a non starter.

So unless something entirely unexpected crops up over the next few hours we are hearing that the Hammers will now soldier on with the players they have.

And that will mean Samir Nasri will have been our only arrival on a free transfer and Reece Oxford will be Germany bound on loan to Augsburg.

There had been some interest in Hernandez from Valencia but the Hammers were unready to sell at £7 million and the suggestions that Chelsea’s Olivier Gerard could be on his way for six months was never a starter.

It now seems certain it will be a very quiet evening but you never ever know. This is football’s deadline day after all!

  1. In the last half an hour on sky sports news they said Everton was the preferred choice for a loan move for Batshuayi but Everton don’t want him, and just now they said he was offered to Crystal Palace but that’s not happening either. Sounds to me like they are touting him all over the place and also that their demands for him are way to high.

  2. God help us if we are willing to continue with what we have. Its been shambolic lately in attack and defence.Seems to me they feel happy in mid table and ******** to the consequences.Pelle said on Tuesday he had only 15 players and knew they were struggling. So much for backing the manager.Even when the injured players come back it will take them 6 games to get up to speed and that’s on the proviso none of them break down after long lay offs.

  3. After all the negotiations with so many different players, what did we end up with? A junior freebie.Seems like we’ve been here before.

  4. If we can’t sign anyone decent then there is no point, we need first team players not reserves. If the chairmen are serious about 7th place they would have jesttisoned Perez and hernandez even on loan and got Gomez.

  5. There is a growing sence of dread around the club at the min. And it just dosnt feel right … Players not happy players wanting to go players not getting on its all falling apart… after December we
all thought we may have something here but just like alwAys we find a way to fu!!! It all up ……..I watched the wolves game again and apart from maybe fab zab and rice they really don’t seem to give two fu!!! And that is the most worrying thing…….

  6. We are a joke.. we have lots of players that don’t look interested in playing for our club or are not good enough. Our board spent big in the summer but my opinion is that is to little to late. Why would any decent player want to come to us. After one season they all want to leave. Abysmal

  7. Well there’s good news and bad news. The good news is we ain’t going down, but the bad news is we will probably finish 17th.

  8. Our season is pretty finished and also there is not much out there that can help us.
I would have got rid of Pea and given the youngsters a run out until the end of the season.
Batshauyi not exactly the answer and at the money he wanted plus the loan fee save the dough for someone else in the summer.
We will need RB LB someone to replace Noble and a new strker so there 150 mil already.
