OK, so it was great to see some youngsters ‘featured’ in the match day squad against Arsenal. Ezra Mayers and Ollie Scarles made the match day squad – as did Luis Guilherme – but stood about as much chance of getting onto the pitch as Divin Mubama did under David Moyes.

The last 30 minutes would have been a perfect time for a coach with joined-up thinking to get something out of the Arsenal game but – no, on came Guido Rodriguez to plod through his limited repertoire.

The notable absentee from the bench on Saturday was Niclas Fullkrug – who was supposedly ‘rumoured to be ready’ for a seat after supposedly recovering and training again.

Now today, from Sean Whetstone, Claret and Hugh’s associate editor, comes news of yet further delay in the unsettled German’s return to the squad. According to Sean’s twitter/x feed:”Niclas Fullkrug is targeting a mid December return to action and could be available for the Bournemouth Away game on 16 Dec.

All eyes will be on his performances after his return with a sale over January not ruled out after the German striker has failed to settle in London”

As far as I’m concerned, ‘targeting a mid December return’ is most likely West Ham speak for ‘nowhere near ready yet’ and I’m not holding my breath that we’ll see the hugely expensive ‘white elephant striker’ on display any time soon. First step will to see a glimpse of the striker in ‘Hammers training videos’ out of Rush Green so we’ll do our usual forensic examination of those next week and keep you posted.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

Hear hear. Perfect opportunity to play some of the kids second half. Wasted! Maybe he really is the “Spanish Moyes”, after all. 🙁

  • Hugh Jassoll says:

unfortunately for fullkrug and the Hammers, the running back on the 49ers who was diagnosed with a similar injury, only made it back for three and a half games after reinjuring it last night

  • Mick Bering says:

Seen this all before another wasted seson under this w ham board just wont do anything positive manager needs replacing now thats plain as day

  • Kenny Irons says:

The signing of Half Rug only magnifies the incompetence of this club – anyone with half a brain would steer well clear looking at his injury record – 27 mil as well, what a bunch of clowns !

  • Darkhorse says:

Fullkrug should be forgot now and moved on. As for Rodriguez he should not even be on the bench if it’s true he wants to move. I do agree with the Arsenal game out of reach it was the time to give one or two youngsters game time.

    • Taffyhammer says:

Sam Allardyce did that once. Giving the youngsters a go. That did not end well for Sam.

  • Matt says:

Rushing Fullkrug back to the first team after injury would be madness.

Lewis Orford never makes the squad? C&H sources inform us our young Brazilian is not performing for the U21’s and yet he makes the bench unlike Orford 🤷‍♂️

    • Zahama says:

While the axe is hovering over J Lo he is unlikely to take a chance on a youngster – hence the claim that we improved in the second half – what if Scarles came on and Arsenal scored again? Maybe that was J Lo’s thinking
