There for the taking | Is Potter brave enough

Having made it through to the Europa League final in Bilbao on 21st May, Ruben Amorim is quite rightly preoccupied in getting as many of his crocked squad fit again for the final against Tottenham. Whilst Hammers fans will be trying to decide who they’d most like to see lose that final whilst doing their best to ignore the whole spectacle, the issue for Amorim is that there are still Premier League games, places and prize money to be played out before then.

West Ham travel to Old Trafford this weekend with a – relatively – healthy squad bar Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio. The Red Devils on the other hand have huge injury problems including – Mathijs De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee, Ayden Heaven and Jonny Evans all ruled out whilst Toby Collier is a major doubt.

Which would suggest the Hammers have never had such a good opportunity to go to Old Trafford and take the initiative – one could argue that distracted with a final coming up, players to rest after Thursday night and injury woes, the Red Devils are ‘there for the taking’.

However, this season we’ve heard all of that before – as per the Tottenham game – when opponents field weaker or second string sides and then proceed to batter us.

Remember though that West Ham are aiming to do the double over Manchester United having won 2-1 at London Stadium (thanks to the dubious penalty award) when both teams were under different Coaches but largely the same personnel.  It was the final straw that saw Erik Ten Hag sacked and not long after Lopetegui went the same way. It could be argued that both clubs have regressed since. Quite what this game is called after last week’s El Crapico: Answers on a postcard.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

I agree with all of the posted comments,I have thought for a while how few if any points we take from the remaining games . As a 60 year fan I can genuinely feel the despair many supporters are feeling and still can’t understand why there isn’t any comments coming from the board room ,can’t they feel it ,it’s shameful

    Who actually cares ?
I expect your article in a couple of weeks time when we play Ipswich will be ‘Relegated Ipswich there for the taking’
Sadly we won’t take anything from either game, because in case you live in cloud cuckoo delusional land and think we will, the cold harsh truth is we are absolutely rubbish and these players don’t give a monkeys about winning any more games this season.
The quicker this season finishes the better.
I have not wanted a season to finish so quickly before than this one,its been one of the worst I’ve known……

West Ham team are going through the motions. I can’t see them getting a single point in there remaining games. No motivation, no confidence and apart from a couple of players, no talent.
They are relegation candidates next season for sure.
A total and comprehensive re think from the board down needs to take place. But while the current owners are there, it will continue to be one disaster after another.

We’ve played many teams who’ve been there for the taking this season and they’ve taken us instead.
We appear to be merely functioning on a very basic level with unmotivated personnel, for whatever reason, who had their beach towels out a few weeks ago.
Potter won’t give opportunities or valuable experience to youth or fringe players and the regulars disappoint week in week out in whatever ‘formation’ is chosen.
I fully expect us to remain rooted in 17th without picking up a single further point.
I’ll revisit the remains of the squad post summer, after a comedy show of epic proportions in the transfer window, orchestrated by our midget supremo.
    Happy days.
