A top West Ham insider has created more questions than answers when responding to rumours that Konstantinos Mavropanos wants to leave the club.
As reported on Claret & Hugh earlier, there has been a real back and forth over the future of the Greek defender.
Latest claim sparks fresh uncertainty
The speculation reached a peak earlier today when Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claimed Mavropanos is seeking a move away from East London this summer.
That, understandably, wasn’t too well received.
Insider response offers mixed message
However, within the last couple of hours, a senior West Ham source offered a slightly different take:
“I think the player is happy with us but tough if we get relegated as the whole team will want to leave.”
Good news… with a catch
On the one hand, it’s encouraging.
It suggests Mavropanos is settled at West Ham, which would naturally improve the chances of keeping him.
But — and it’s a big but — that second part tells its own story. If West Ham were to go down, it wouldn’t just be one player looking for a way out.
It would be everyone.
lol, they are all gonna leave if we get relegated – see you later boys.
Exactly why modern football stinks, with a few exceptions they all play for the pound note
and couldn’t give a toss about the club they play for.
All going to end in tears not far down the line….
It would obviously be devasting for us to be relegated but I guess at least the some of the young academy players would get a better chance of breaking into the senior team. Having said that, I hope that our team can continue their improvement and keep us up. COYI !
Can they not just let us enjoy being out the relegation zone. Nice to hear Mavro is happy here but did they really feel the need to add the second part about them all wanting to leave if we go down just be quiet, cant help himself can he like when he went on talksport morning after Prague saying Rice was leaving.
There appears to be a lot of transfer gossip at the moment most of which will turn out to be rubbish in time. However, if Dinos has stirred the water then it may be as a precaution in case we are relegated. He may just want teams interested if that terrible scenario happens.
hopefully for Sullivan we get relegated then he can cash in on all players worth anything…of course i am sure he does not want that now does he!
And that’s going to benefit him how exactly?
