Gradually, the relegation battle evolves as the season gets whittled down to the last six games. One brash, loud TalkSPORT pundit believes Leeds United are now safe having grabbed an unlikely win at Old Trafford on Monday night, but still feels they will be pivotal in deciding the outcome of the identity of the third club relegated along with Burnley and Wolves.
Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has long held that West Ham were likely to be that third team.
Faced with Leeds superb win away on Monday night, Jordan now claims they are safe but because of the fixtures will have a huge bearing on the table:

“What they will also do, [Leeds] is not just perhaps secure their future. They might be pivotal in the outcomes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham. They’re playing those two teams as well…
Simon Jordan claims Nottingham Forest have pulled themselves ‘out of it’ but I’m not so sure. Still a three horse race to beat the drop.
Leeds can be their own kingmakers [through survival] but can also be ‘king-savers’ of one of the other two big London clubs,. Because I think it’s going to be one of the other two… Forest seemed to have pulled themselves together.
So its gonna be West Ham or Spurs and it looks now, as much as I might want it to be something different, it looks like its gonna be Spurs”
You’d sense this weekend coming is pivotal to the whole season. Tottenham can overtake West Ham ahead of their Monday night game against Crystal Palace if the Spuds beat Brighton. Lose, and the Hammers can go five points clear with five to play which, in my opinion, would be a crushing blow for Tottenham to face this late on. And I’m already nervous ahead of this weekend’s fixtures. And it’s only Wednesday,.
First of all, Simon Jordan does not know any more than the rest of us when it comes to predicting results, so just like yours and mine, it is only an opinion. Secondly, this weekends’ games are only potentially “pivotal” until they are over and the results are known, and then next weeks’ games take their place. It is still a four horse race even though two of those are marginally ahead of the others. I would say Forest and Spurs have the more difficult games and Leeds the easiest, but that could all change by Monday.
Not that I give a gnat’s widget about the bloke or his opinions, but Jordan really needs to grow up. A lot of us have our own personal feelings of our current chairman, but to allow previous spats of some 20 plus years ago colour your judgement of a completely unrelated footballing scenario is childish in the extreme.
Thankfully I don’t listen to TS unless it’s for commentaries, but his relentless anti-West Ham agenda is tedious in the extreme, but seems tolerated if not encouraged by this employer. Why the media in general give him the oxygen required is beyond me.
