PFA boss Gordon Taylor
Gordon Taylor is the last person in the world who should be a trade union leader!
Come to that – and let’s be frank – does the game of football need such an organisation anyway.
The current health problems have presented a problem which has seen the letters PFA arrive into the public domain for the first time in years.
What exactly does it do?
Taylor is allegedly earning around £2 million a year which amounts to much the same as a half decent Prem or Championship player.
And here are his current thoughts on the pay cut row, which has been causing a row throughout the game as players appear to feel they have the right to choose where they put the 30 per cent they may choose to give up.
Of course it may be an entirely different story were they to be asked to loan the money back to the clubs that employ them.
Quoted by the BBC today Taylor declares: “It is a question of asking players to be involved,”
“The question needs to come from the clubs and then to open up on the table and say it is not a question of us using your money for purposes you don’t want.”
“It is not for me to tell clubs how to run their businesses. It is for me to look at the players’ side of things,” said Taylor.
Gordon Taylor really doesn’t get it. His job is to protect the livelihoods of his members. End of. He should perhaps be advising them that if thy don’t take cuts there may not be a club for them to go back to.
It is not up to the players to decide at all. It is up to him to explain and that includes demonstrating that clubs are set to go out of business if cuts aren’t made in all areas and that includes them!
It’s hard to advise if you don’t know what your job involves!
Very dangerous talk .
It IS obvious to every football fan or supporter of a specific club that players have been obscenely overpaid for what they do for a living ( and for a long time ) . Most people can’t earn in a lifetime what some players receive in a month .
He needs to take a long good look at what he is saying to the fans .
It’s all coming to a head now ; and not before time .
The system has allowed these obscene levels of wages for far too long .
Well paid players have no room for complaint and Instead should be considering the false
Wages they are taking home .
But let’s not soley look at FP ;; there are loads of free loading celebrities as well showing off thier tits and bums for media attention . And getting lots of money for it thinking that we actually care about how they look .
The world should change when this crisis for Human Kind is over but , it probably won’t , sadly .
I was a kid when the bombs fell and my memories are full ,,,,, it’s starting to look the same again where the rich go unscathed and us poor sods take the blunt end .
Well said Kevin…these people live in a bubble and this should have nothing to do with fans as they are the ones that are robbed every week. Furthermore, when the transfer market opens I bet all these clubs will come up with huge amounts of money to buy players that again lands in the pockets of the players involved and their leeching agents !!
Just goes to show that Gordon is a moron
