This Hammer’s a wanted man!

Pedro Obiang remains a wanted maObiangn in January with Napoli continually tracking the Irons midfielder.

With so many options in the area Slaven Bilic may be tempted to allow the  No 14 to join the Serie A outfit for the rest of the season should he receive a firm offer.

Napoli were keen in the summer when the Hammers moved in with a £4 million bid for the former Sampdoria man but the Italian outfit have been carefully watching his progress at the club this season.

The player has been unable to nail down a regular place in the line up and that has given the Italian outfit hope that they may be able to do a deal with the Irons.

A Hammers source told ClaretandHugh said: “This will be for later – we have had no contact at this stage but we were aware of their interest in the player.

  1. Loan him out for a fee + wages, if Arsenal & Chelsea can do it, why not us?

  2. Rather have him start than Noble. Adds pace in front of our back four as well as solid passing.

  3. We shouldn’t let him go. Our strength at the moment is the depth of our squad. If he goes in January, we could end up with limited cover in the event of injuries and that is why the big boys are the big boys. They have the depth to cope. We would be crazy to sell. At most loan him and include a recall clause. This is when we find out how serious we are about our progress. It didn’t take long for other clubs to start eyeing our talent.

  4. Wrong even contemplating that now. Obiang hasn’t featured much but we have already seen what a quality player he is. Having a deep squad is what we’ve been craving for for such a long time and it is probably the main reason why we are doing so well.
Injuries will happen, and they could (unfortunately) happen to the likes of Payet, Kouyate, lanzin or Song. What then ?

All it takes is a midfielder having a stinker or two, Bilic will not hesitate to put Obiang in and from then on it’d be Obiang’s place to keep or lose again. We can sell or loan out a guy like JOB or some of our youngsters, but not guys like Obiang.

  5. The player himself has stated that he has benefited by being on the bench as he is still italionised in his play and needs to iron out his problems so letting him go on loan back to Italy is crazy if not brain dead !!!
Song is also coming back so Bilic has a problem to solve, if the player is content to learn the
Prem way and be better for it next term then keep him , he certainly isn’t unhappy !!!!!!
What we need is a first rate R/B and save a few 10 grands a week !! Then call arsenals bluff at the end of the season,,,,, if we still want jenks that is .

  6. Our squad has not yet developed to the level where players of Obiang’s quality are excess to requirements. Certainly not whilst Noble is still a regular.

  7. All just media talk.It ain’t even worth worrying about/considering thinking about till January,if at all.

  8. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with Sparrow but don’t sell him, all I’m saying is if we are going to loan him out, don’t get mugged off, get some pound notes in

  9. Let Noble go out on loan and leave Obiang ,Song and Kouyate alone,
We have let Poyet go already and if we are going to win the league we want our squad intact,
    We are not a selling club ( quote D G )
