This Iron to have big say on Moyes future

By Hughie Southon

David Moyes is safe in his job until January.

Huge speculation about the manager’s future has been on the go since the Hammers were victims of Palace’s first away win of the season at the weekend.

But the Hammers, having made it clear already he is no immediate danger, and in appointing Mark Noble as director of football, have shown he has until the new year at least.

As a result, given Nobes’ close relationship with Moyes, it could well be that the Scot will be in charge for the long haul.

The legendary Hammers servant takes over his new role in January and as director of football, has recruitment across the board as part of his remit.

That has been shown following the departure resignation of academy coach Ricky Martin with Nobes now having a big say in the appointment of his successor.

In an official website announcement the club say “A further announcement on the permanent management and coaching structure for this key role in the revered Academy of Football will be made in due course – and will be a priority for incoming Sporting Director Mark Noble when he commences his role in January.”

That indicates clearly Mark will be involved in all such decisions on the removal of players. managers and their successors with the club saying his new job included key aspects of the club including transfers, recruitment and the academy.
