Three Clubs Eye Wilson as West Ham Consider Crazy Decision

West Ham striker Callum Wilson remains likely to leave the club in the current transfer window, in what would seem to be a crazy decision.

Sevilla, Leeds United and Leicester City have all been linked with a move for the former Newcastle United striker. Wilson, who signed on a free transfer, has been better than many expected since joining the Hammers, which only adds to the confusion around a potential exit.

A top West Ham source told Claret & Hugh’s Sean Whetstone last week:

“We’ll see how the new strikers settle,” before a decision is made on offloading Wilson. However, his departure now looks increasingly close.

The striker is said to be popular within a squad that is hardly brimming with joviality or leadership at present. Factor in that he is currently the team’s second top goalscorer and the whole situation begins to look like madness.

Why Selling Wilson Makes No Sense

Allowing Wilson to depart for Leeds United, in particular, would be a move that could possibly seal the club’s fate.

Valentín Castellanos looks to be a high-energy player who will likely adjust to the pace of the Premier League. A regular poster on Hammers Chat Patreon described him as a “Poundland Tevez”, which did make me chuckle. The Argentine is clearly a workaholic type who should, hopefully, settle quickly.

Pablo Felipe-West Ham transfer

Pablo: West Ham’s new signing is still a relative unknown

As for Pablo Felipe, he showed determination and a bit of tenacity, but also looked like a player who will take time to adjust to the speed and physicality of the Premier League. For that reason alone, moving Wilson on now feels like a needless gamble – particularly when it costs the club practically nothing for him to sit on the bench.

If the player himself is pushing for the move, then it becomes more complicated. He signed the contract and has proven his fitness. But for the good of the club, he really needs to stay and help West Ham out. If he does that, I’m sure another move will be there for him in the summer.

They were no Hartson and Kitson. Castellanos smelt Scamaccaesque, whilst Pablo looked liked Redknapps fan intervention. Not seeing the ingredients for a turnaround here, so Championship it is.

Would agree it’s crazy, he will score goals and as an impact sub could be the difference.

Personally I think he and Earthy should have contract extensions rather than risk losing them, if we are in the championship what assetts they would be in getting out of it ?

Shows the screwed up mentality of the current board, Pablo and it’s harsh to judge early but looking at the game against Forest was like a deer caught in the headlights with the pace of the PL, Taty on the other hand while not looking like scoring , I was impressed with his abiliity to adapt quickly to the pace. It might be that playing as a pair the Taty Wilson pairing might be better, I also thought Wilson would likely have scored against Forest where both Taty and Felipe missed their chances.

He’s obviously not on a conventional contract, some pay as you play agreement.

There could be any terms and conditions in that as it’s restrictive, it’s nigh on certain that there will be get out clauses.

The situation has changed enormously with the signing of two younger than Fullkrug strikers.

The ball is likely in his court not ours.

Keep him. Put him on the 6 month contract that TraorĂŠ was going to have.
