The Carabao Cup is traditionally the ideal opportunity to give academy kids a chance to show what they have particularly when we are drawn against lower division clubs.

And on Wednesday evening we travel to League One outfit Lincoln City – currently sitting 13th in League One with just three games won from eight, three draws and a couple lost.

However, they went down only by the odd goal in three at top of the table Portsmouth over the weekend – remember when they were in the Prem?

Hopefully, David Moyes won’t let this game pass without giving one or two of our outstanding prospects the opportunity to strut their stuff.

The under 21s have already seen off Bristol Rovers 3-1 who sit just one place above The Imps in their recent Prem 2 EFL Cup game.

So this will come as nothing new to any of those the manager decides to play from a Development team still unbeaten in all competitions this season.

A start for George Earthy would be good news for a youngster who is rated very highly having just signed a new deal with the club.

Divin Mubama surely will get a chance and I hope to see Ollie Scarles and Lewis Orford – thought by many to be the new Declan – include

  1. Makes absolute sense to play Scarles and Mubama for all the right reasons, and Earthy why not? Similarly, Moyes should surely have a look at Cornet, unless he has already consigned him to the Moyes bin.
