Reports are emerging this morning that the transfer battle for 19-year-old winger Wesley Gassova is no longer a two-horse race.

Brazilian winger Wesley is contemplating an exit from Corinthians this summer. While Chelsea and West Ham United have both made bids, he is leaning towards a switch to France.

Claret & Hugh spoke to our West Ham source this morning to discuss the constant links to various wingers. While the club did not rule out interest in Wesley, they were keen to stress that defenders and a striker remained a priority.

Valued at €20 million, Wesley is a versatile, highly skilled winger who has gained attention from across Europe after a standout season. West Ham had been heavily linked with the player and were rumoured to be planning a winter move.

His recent performances have nearly earned him a spot on the Brazil national team. He was on the extended squad list for the Copa América, and though he didn’t make the final cut, he is likely to join the national team soon.

Preferring to start in Ligue 1 before progressing to the Premier League, Wesley has caught the eye of OGC Nice, where former sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, now at AS Roma, had shown keen interest in him.

Good head on his shoulders this lad…if he wants to go to a lower class league to bed into European life good luck to him…if he does well then he will be out of our price range forever so if we really do want him then we have to make a concerted effort now.
