West Ham stance clear on Mavropanos future
West Ham are in no immediate danger of losing Konstantinos Mavropanos, a top source has told Claret & Hugh this morning.
Dinos has been heavily linked with a summer move away from West Ham, with Sky Sports yesterday claiming the Greek defender is a target for several Bundesliga clubs.
From zero to hero at West Ham
Mavropanos has seen himself go from zero to hero this season and is currently keeping £35 million defender Jean-Claire Todibo out of the team.
The former Arsenal trainee was signed from Stuttgart for £17 million by former director of football Tim Steidten and scored two goals in West Ham’s 4-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which lifted the club out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Contract situation strengthens West Ham position
Claret & Hugh sought clarification from a source at the very top of the club, who spoke to us exclusively this morning, insisting West Ham remain in a strong position with the player’s contract.
“He’s got two years and a one-year option.”
Bigger decisions to come this summer
Last night, C&H were informed that once the club are certain which league West Ham will be playing in next season, they will look at all players’ contractual situations – but not before.
