Tim Steidten’s arrival at West Ham United has been a game-changer for the club. As director of football, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s transfer strategy and overall development.

Steidten has brought a new level of professionalism and efficiency to West Ham United. Steidten is clearly a man who favours the personal touch as can be seen with his relationships with the players which has created a positive environment. It’s a testament to many of the playing staff too, who appear to have adapted very quickly to the change in West Ham’s management model.

Steidten’s expertise in player recruitment has been evident in West Ham’s recent transfer successes and dare I say, he has brought a level of competency to the Irons buying and selling. He has played a key role in securing signings like Aaron Wan Bissaka, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodríguez, who have significantly strengthened the team from last season. One would also assume that the director of footballs fingerprints are on the decision to recruit former Liverpool defender Joel Matip.

One of Steidten’s most notable achievements is his commitment to keeping promises. He assured manager Julen Lopetegui that West Ham would not sell any of their star players, and he delivered on that promise. This demonstrates Steidten’s integrity and his ability to build trust with the coaching staff and players.

The Irons are in a strong position thanks to the work of Steidten. His Hammers vision and expertise have transformed the club’s transfer strategy and created a positive atmosphere within the organisation and also created an air of expectancy and trust within the fan base. As long as Steidten remains at West Ham, the club can be optimistic about its future prospects.

There is clearly a change since Steidten was given full reign. 9 players through the door and trust built up with both players and manager. A great leap forward for the hammers. Makes the Moyes era seem antiquated.

  • John Ayris says:

Steidten has worked absolute miracles, he’s our best signing by some distance…

  • Negativenick says:

If only Steidten hadn’t bought luis Guilherme for 20 million we could have bought John Duran from Villa. They wanted 40 million, we offered 35. 5 million more would have done it.

  • Terry says:

While widely accepted as having an excellent window, I can’t help to wonder if we missed a trick by not signing Duran instead of Fullkrug. Understand that he was reported to be 15m cheaper, but Guillherme at 25m was a luxury we could have done without this window.
Just think that Duran would have given us the x factor this season and beyond..

  • Phil Smith says:

This won’t be popular with some but you have to give credit to the board for bringing Steidten in and allowing him the freedom to implement his vision/plan

OK, I think there is a general consensus that Tim Steidten has been a catalyst for a big shift the way West Ham are operating.
However, the statement that he’s kept his promise to keep the star players is debatable.
From what I’ve read, the only player who actually wanted to leave was Aguerd, other players who left seemed reluctant to go.
JWP was involved in 51 games, with 18 goal involvements.
Club Captain, Kurt Zouma, 40 games (3 goals scored, 65 conceded)
Were these players not ‘stars’ ?

Perhaps West Ham are entering a period of success, although we are yet to see it, but hope springs eternal.

  • Matt Palmer says:

To early to use the word success. Results and performances determine that. I think that overall this window was well managed. Defined who we needed and got players in early.

The big HOWEVER is that 4 matches into the season and we are still starting with Antonio upfront which tells me we have got the biggest single part of the recruitment wrong. Füllkrug is not mobile enough and we should have paid £15m more to get Duran rather than paying £40m on both Sommerville and Guilherme instead of just getting one of them. I mean the player was even doing the crossed irons on social media and we couldn’t get the deal done…. Very frustrating!

    • Paul Taylor says:

Totally agree, doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Antonio seems irreplaceable but only for his hold up play he is never going to score more than 10 goals in any season. Fullkrub is a dream for defenders as he doesn’t play off the shoulder and even with a 5mtrs headstart doesn’t have any pace and is easily run down. But I am seeing improvement from one game to the next so very hopeful.
