Tim Steidten is at it again.
Barely has the transfer window opened than we have shifted a player in Thilo Kehrer – a David Moyes signing that hasn’t worked out – and are set to get £10 million in the summer for the German international.
Steidten has been referred to by many as the best signing of last year and it’s hard to disagree with that for as we have revealed in the past his picks to join the club were Mo Kudus and Edson Alvarez and at £75 million for the two it was extraordinary business.
Beyond that, we have been told that he was deeply involved with David Sullivan in helping to ensure that Jarrod Bowen signed a seven year deal. The man has made an extraordinary start to his Irons career.
For Monaco to have agreed £11m to take Kehrer with a permanent deal in the summer on the cards demonstrates once again – if it was needed – that he is a top operator for that was the price we paid when signing him from Paris St German. Makes a change not to make a loss eh?
The Kudus/Bowen link – avoids us having to look for a striker until the summer when Danny Ings will hopefully have been moved on SOON and Mikey Antonio’s time as a front line forward is over.
But before that, despite the winter being a poor time to buy top players , hopes will be high that the technical director has something else up his sleeve as we look to improve a squad which needs deepening.
In the meantime it is deeply refreshing to see a window opening and the Hammers immediately doing business.
Kehrer was a Sully Special not a Moyes signing.
Absolutely untrue – Brady and Sullivan both said Moyes has last word on signings
