Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks set for his West Ham United debut following a good week of training at Rush Green.

The £15 million signing from Manchester United was not deemed ready to start the Premier League season opener against Aston Villa. Vladimir Coufal began the campaign at right-back, and while he wasn’t West Ham’s worst performer, some of the Hammers’ old defensive issues persisted.

Having pursued Wan-Bissaka for much of the transfer window, head coach Julen Lopetegui is keen to integrate the former Crystal Palace player into the first team as quickly as possible and should face his former club on Saturday.

Wan-Bissaka did not feature at all in the 2-1 loss at London Stadium, having picked up a slight knock shortly before the game, which kept him out of training for a few days. However, he is now believed to be fully up to speed and is expected to take his place in a West Ham team undergoing a defensive overhaul.

Play 3-5-2 with AWB on the right of a back three with Todibo and Kilman, Emerson as left wing back, Summerville up front with Fullkrug, Kudus and Paqueta either side of Rodriguez, Bowen on the right in his best role.

  • John Ayris says:

Wan Bissaka in, Fullkrug in, Todibo in as I believe they’re our best players for those positions.

    Keep Rodriguez and Kilman in.

As much of Summerville as possible.

That would make for a strong team with a strong bench with all that’s needed is to gel.

I’d play a 3-5-2 system incorporating all of those players…….

Areola – Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman – Bowen, Kudus, Rodriguez, Paqueta, Emerson – Fullkrug, Summerville.

Summerville is a goalscorer. Fullkrug isn’t a lone striker.
