Time running out for Hammer

West Ham has received no bids or any firm interest in Martin Samuelsen in the run-up to the January transfer window.  The 22-year old who joined on a free transfer from Manchester City’s academy in the summer of 2015 is currently on loan to FK Haugesund until the end of December.

The Norwegian is said to have cost the Hammers £2m in wages over the last four and half years but the Hammers are likely to let him go for a nominal fee or cancel his contract by mutual consent if someone comes in for him before his contract finishes.

The Hammer spent time on loan with Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers, Burton Albion and VVV-Venlo but has failed to make his breakthrough to the West Ham first-team squad.

He made his professional debut for the Hammers at the Boleyn Ground in a Europa League second qualifying round match against Birkirkara, replacing Morgan Amalfitano after 59 minutes.
