Today’s key games for Irons league position

west-ham-andy-carroll-chelsea_3434086Results in today’s games could have a big effect on the Hammers league position as they go into Monday night’s home game against Chelsea.

Each of the three teams who can leapfrog us in the table look to have relatively decent chances of doing so but of course we know that’s not the way this game often turns out particularly against team who are flirting with the relegation zone as is the case here.

Stoke City – immediately below us and one worse off on goal difference welcome  17th place Middlesbrough with most pundits of course opting for a home winner which would push us into tenth were it to happen.

Burnley – below them – are away at 16th placed Swansea who are in a mini revival having won three of their last four games including a big one away at Liverpool.

Finally Southampton travel to Watford for a tough looking game against a Hornets side who showed plenty of ability against us last week.

So, an interesting day despite us having to wait another 48 hours before seeing some action!

  1. We are having the most difficult season that I can remember as a supporter but , last season wasn’t so easy either . We are and were always dependent on injuries and non-injuries to our best or key players . The Stadium move has always been a bit difficult but , The Boleyn was never so easy either . We have been a perpetual yoyo team for donkeys years and so the difference between The Boleyn and LS is insignificant .
The only difference now , as far as I can see , is the ownership and management .
Yes we are in a reasonably safe position this weekend and depending on other results we could be better or worse off come Monday night . Chelsea , just as any other team are very beatable on any given day and our commitment and performance must reflect that obvious truth . We are not safe yet and the next few games will more or less see our season saved or destroyed . Not to lose against Chelsea is our priority.. a goal less draw is definitely better than a 1-2 loss . So one on you Hammers and earn at least a point .
