Todibo Bust-up Far From an Isolated Incident For Lopetegui

Is it really a coincidence that West Ham have suffered yet another report of a fall-out between the head coach and a player?

In this instance, the footballer in question is Jean-Clair Todibo, who, it seems, was less than impressed with Julen Lopetegui. The Frenchman is reported to have been involved in a clash with Lopetegui, with the two men having to be separated by captain Jarrod Bowen.

If the rumour were an isolated story, one would usually pay very little attention—but it’s not. In fact, last weeks scuffle wasn’t even the first time Lopetegui has had a row with a West Ham player this season. Mohammed Kudus was reportedly restrained from a shoving match with the Irons boss during a half-time team talk in September.

But we can’t say we weren’t warned. Lopetegui arrived in East London with a reputation for falling out with people. It happened at Wolves, Real Madrid, and with Spain, so it comes as little surprise to see the same happen at West Ham.

It would be easy to suggest that the Spaniard had lost the dressing room, but that’s too simplistic. The truth is that some Hammers players like him, and some don’t. Unfortunately for Lopetegui, even those who are sympathetic towards him have lost faith in his tactics and methods.

The reports make it incredible that Lopetegui has been given the game against Wolves to turn things around. Quite how he’ll fix the disharmony in the dressing room is hard to say but irrespective of his reprieve, I doubt he’ll be in the Hammers hot-seat at the end of the season.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

More West Ham moaning is done on a daily basis here 👇👇

How bad does it have to get to be a supporter for 67 year’s and hope that we loose Monday evening at home purely so the managers reign becomes untenable! Sullivan and the Board should be utterly ashamed with themselves for subjecting loyal supporters to feel so ignored, unappreciated and irrelevant. SHAME on every single one of them you do not represent me in any shape or form. What an abject and embarrassing mess you reside over.

Amazing fans for the most part, but absolutely gutless club management, pathetic.

What players? Who said they are sympathetic but have lost faith iwth tactics and methods?

Are these actual facts? I’ve not seen them be reported. Or…simply conjecture and assumptions….

What on earth difference will one game make? Loppy’s competence isn’t going to improve overnight. If the reports are correct, retaining his services simply shows weak leadership in the boardroom.

  • Dave says:

Maybe he’s right to call some of these players out.
They’re taking the piss out of the badge and if they can’t take a few home truths here, why would any other top club wany them.
Areola, Tobidos and kudas have done absolutely nothing apart from being liabilities so far.
If none of them can take criticism, let them go..
Tim signs the players but he’s like velcro.
