West Ham United‘s efforts to bolster their central defence have encountered a snag in their pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano assures fans that the Frenchman himself is keen on the move to East London.
With the winds of change sweeping through the London Stadium under new manager Julen Lopetegui, the Hammers have wasted no time in the transfer market. Acquisitions of Wes Foderingham Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman have already been secured. Yet, the the defence remains a cause for concern, the potential departures of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd have opened the door for reinforcements.
Lopetegui identified Todibo as a potential solution, and reports suggested the player reciprocated the interest. Romano confirms this, highlighting Todibo’s enthusiasm for Lopetegui’s project at West Ham.
Unfortunately, the sticking point appears to be purely financial. West Ham’s opening bid of £25 million fell short of Nice’s valuation for the talented young defender. Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth reports that the Hammers might consider returning to the negotiating table with an improved offer.
The good news for West Ham fans is that Todibo remains attainable. However, they face competition. With Todibo’s contract with Nice valid until 2027, other clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation.
They go in with insulting bids. It should be 10 or 15% under then barter instead of giving other clubs the chance.
Our bid is just £8.5m short open the purse and get him signed.
£8.5m is peanuts compared to the millions changing hands this transfer season.
Quality costs money, sign him!
The key variable is the Aguerd situation\ Will he or won’t he?
