By all accounts, Juventus were seeking to attract West Ham’s Jean Clair Todibo to Italy last week. From reports this Sunday morning, several outlets are quoting Italian media claiming Juve’s interest has intensified with a new position being mooted. To re-iterate, just two days ago Claret and Hugh spoke with our highly placed source within West Ham, ( Exclusive- Juventus bid for Todibo, West Ham’s Stance Confirmed) asking whether there was any possibility of Todibo leaving.
“No. [They] just want to loan him for a season and he’s injured, and we only have 3 centre backs so a total non-runner.” Was the reply on Friday.
So there’d need to be a huge shift in negotiations from Juventus for things to have changed this morning. Pretty clearly, from what Claret and Hugh were told, a purchase would have to be included in the deal for West Ham to have interest. Whether or not Graham Potter would actually decide to press the button on a sale is another issue completely.
With just three centre backs operating this season – when all fit and available – The Hammers would need to replace Todibo and whether there is time to accomplish that in the last week of the window is arguably near- impossible. Given the trouble the club is having recruiting a striker and a midfielder, getting any deal over the line is pretty unlikely!
We need him in our first team, today every player was fighting for the shirt which is the first time in ages we have seen that level of effort, perhaps since we won the cup. When we get him, Summerville, Bowen and Fullkrug back will be interesting to see how good we can be. Am wondering if he will swap Bowen to the left as he has swapped Summerville to the right.
Look I think JCT is a good player just hasn’t had the chance with loopy and injuries , just unlucky . I can see a real player there needs time with potter and the team think he might turn out to be a decent signing .
