James Tomkins will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court No.4 at 10am today charged with being drunk and disorderly, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer outside Sugar Hut in Brentwood on 22nd December last year.
His legal team have said he will “vigorously” fight the charges.
At the time of his arrest a spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police were called by security staff from the Sugar Hut Village shortly before 12.30am on Sunday the 22nd following reports of a disturbance.Officers arrived and arrested James Tomkins before later charging him with one count of assaulting a police officer, one count of resisting arrest and one count of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.”
If found guilty of assaulting a police officer an offender could face up to a maximum 6 months in jail and/or a fine.
