Tomkins’ Newcastle hope

|

James-Tomkins_3236381James Tomkins hopes he may be ready to play some sort of small part in the final game of the season at Newcastle.

The central defender  – out with a dislocated shoulder for over two months –  was believed to be ready to see out the season on the sidelines.

But he told the official site after returning to training:  “It’s going well. I’m out on the pitch now, running and stepping up the training, I like being out there with a ball at my feet, so I’ve been doing some light training in the run up to the Everton game, and hopefully I’ll be in full training ahead of Newcastle.

“That’s the plan, and I’m staying positive that I can be fit before the end of the season.”

Why risk him when we do not need to use him with Burke and Ginge doing quite well and Oxford as back up,
Get him fit for next year and a fresh start if we go in to Europe we are going to need lol our layers fit,

What a load of rubbish . Tomkins is not as good as Burke and probably Oxford. He has been awful most of the season . Why should a broken shoulder and no training or match fitness make you think he should make a comeback ?

  • bubs says:

If you read the article Tomkins is the one saying he hopes to be available for the Newcastle game not Hugh,
He dislocated his shoulder ( not broken )
It’s an update on Tomkins health not a debate on if you think he is good or bad,
If you think he is awful I would love to read your views on Nolan,Cole,O,Brien and Jarvis
    bubbles ?

He has been awful this year? Really?.Aint sure about Burke & Oxford being better than him atm either, one hasnt even played a Prem match yet,how the hell can you say he is better now?

  • bubs says:

He obviously does not rate Tomkins stingray,
Burke and Oxford can learn a lot from Tomkins in the next few years and if we put him on the market tomorrow for £10 mil we would get takers Pardew for one,
He would fetch a lot more than Reid,
But people have there views it’s like John not liking Jenkinson

Whats the geezer banging on about,Tomkins has been sound as a pound this season.Few mistakes but what defender doesnt sometimes.Appears Oxford could well be better but i wouldnt have thought he is now & Burke has only played 3 bleedin games. He looks the part, but to say they are both better atm is horsesh*t.
