“I think it’s brilliant that the Club has shown faith in me and offered me this deal and I’m delighted to sign it, I’ve been here since I was seven and this is a long-term deal which is going to take me up until I’m in my thirties, so it’s nice to commit my future here.”

  1. I know the lad has his critics and often divides opinion but for me on his day he is a top quality defender and I for one am very pleased that he has signed a new deal.

It is just a pity there aren’t more like him at the club! I could mention other player(s) who would do well too follow his lead!

Slightly off topic, but can anybody shine any light on the Tonka elbowing incident? The reason I ask is because in an interview after the game he said that he had spoken to the ref and he would be looking into the incident.
Although the ref stated that players safety was his priority the ref in question is Mark calamitburg So I don’t hold out much hope. Afterall where was his concerns for player safety at goodaison earlier in the season when he allowed one vicious assault on our players after another?!

  2. Im happy with that. I love keeping the home grown lads, Hes 25 ish and should improve over the next 5 years.

  3. Good news well done James Tomkins !

  4. Good news. homegrown and lighting the way for the likes of reece Burke and reece Oxford.

  5. tomkins has shown vast improvement as a player under sam as has Reid and whilst all the talk has been about reid signing a new contract tomkins has come in under the rader and took everyone by surprise with his new contract. I’m pleased we have rewarded his loyalty with a new long term contract. Is this the same or as good as the contract offered to reid? I hope so.

  6. Well done James Tomkins . . . West Ham man
