Too much change is a never a good thing

Changes Crossroad Sign

Too much change is rarely a good thing in business or in football!

We have bought in thirteen new players over the Summer transfer window, we have moved out of our stadium of 112 years to the London stadium doubling our amount of season tickets holders and changed our first team training ground of many years from Chadwell Heath to Rush Green, all over one short summer.

When Spurs sold Gareth Bale for £86million move to Real Madrid to fund a £110m spending spree in the summer of 2013, Garth Crooks declared that his old club had ‘sold Elvis and bought the Beatles’.

Instead of a Fab Four, however, the arrival of Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Christian Eriksen, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Nacer Chadli, meant that S Club 7 might have been more appropriate.

Spurs suffered a troubling season after the sale of Bale trying to integrate seven new players and ended up scrapping a sixth place finish at the end of the season. Just Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen remain of those seven players this season.

Two of those seven players have helped in defeats over West Ham in recent weeks. Nacer Chadli scored two goals for West Brom over the weekend while Etienne Capoue scored one of the four goals in the same 4-2 scoreline against Watford.

There was perhaps too much change too soon which may be a major factor in our current problems.

Give us your thoughts!
