David Moyes

We should be forever grateful to David Moyes. There, I have said it. Dithering Dave walked away from transfers faster than Edson Alvarez getting two yellow cards- he acted as if if the club’s money were his own cash. The players we missed, anecdotally, because Dave decided they ‘weren’t right’ include Cole Palmer and Julian Alvarez. However we should be eternally grateful that he committed to one transfer back in 2020.

As Lopetegui prepares the squad for the crucial away match against Newcastle United next Monday, our Hammers return from international duty and nobody will be more brimming with confidence than club captain Jarrod Bowen having scored his first goal for England on Sunday night with his first touch.

It is a little-known fact though, that Bowen came within a whisker of joining Newcastle instead of West Ham: he was even house hunting for a new home ‘oop north’.

Then at Hull City, Bowen was informed that Newcastle had decided not to pay the £20 million being asked for his services. The phone call went to West Ham, ‘Dave’ said yes, and the next thing is that Bowen was advised by his club that they’d sold him to West Ham instead. Thanks Dave.

Newcastle are still linked, most transfer windows, with a “planned bid to take Bowen to St James’ Park” but always seem to baulk at the small matter of the 400% increase in his value since their ‘walk-away’ at £20 million. That England goal takes his value a little higher. Dream on, Magpies.

This is incorrect. Moyes tried to get Palmer and we had an accepted bid, but he opted for Chelsea. There is enough with Moyes, we don’t need to pin inaccuracies to him…

Beat me to it. People love to blame Moyes for things as if he isn’t the most successful manager we’ve had in decades. He did quite well in the transfer market, overall.

Hasn’t Bowen spoke about how he nearly went to Newcastle a number of times over the past couple of years?

        Nothing new really.

We have tight wad Mike Ashley to thank which gave dithering Dinosaur Dave his one signing that we respect.

Unfortunately he wasted untold on so many other players and we missed out on so many class players too!
