Top Irons trio run miles and miles

Committing only three fouls so far this season, Declan Rice’s positional intelligence continues to improve writes the Premier League official website previewing the Liverpool v West Ham tomorrow.

The 21-year-old Hammer has made 15 interceptions, second only to N’Golo Kante among Premier League midfielders.

And Rice’s confidence on the ball is growing, too. he boasts a pass accuracy of 86.3 per cent making him joint 4th in the Premier League and has tellingly also completed 10 successful dribbles from his deep-lying position which makes him joint second in the top flight league.

From one such run he almost scored an incredible solo goal in the 3-0 win at Leicester City. Only Tanguy Ndombele, with 10 completed dribbles, and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who has 20, can match Rice for successful take-ons among central midfielders.

West Ham running stats show Tomas Soucek running 12.3Km, Pablo Fornals 12.1Km, Declan Rice 11.4Km and Vladimir Coufal 11.3Km.  New signing Coufal makes the most sprints per 90 minutes of any West Ham player with 16.7 followed by Michail Antonio  and Jarrod Bowen on 15.8 and Pablo Fornals on 15.4 sprints.

Fornals has also chipped in with one goal and two assists this season with his precise through-ball for Jarrod Bowen at King Power Stadium highlighted the midfielder’s creativity.

Claret and Hugh says:  These West Ham players are full of confidence and there might not be a better time to face Liverpool and snatch a draw or a cheeky Anfield away win to spoil their 62 unbeaten game run.  The stats are a remarkably accurate reflections and prove one thing as far as Declan, Pablo Fornals and Tomas Souckek in particular are concerned – it’s amazing how lucky and successful you can become when you work hard! Hammers fans only ever ask that whoever play they  have left everything out there when the final whistle has blown. That maybe why Seb Haller has had a hard time but in Declan, Tomas and Pablo we have a trio who collectively have run 35 km in games which is brilliant. We are gonna need that and perhaps even more at Anfield tomorrow. As said: We ask for no more from any of them.
