Top prospect Ashby injury update

Amidst all the David Sullivan moaning and groaning this morning one piece of good news at least.

Young Harrison Ashby – who was drafted into last night’s Hammers team so successfully – will be back in training this week after badly spraining a finger against Hull City last night and leaving the action in the second half.

The young central defender took his chance when Issa Diop was forced to withdraw from the team after testing positive for COVID 19.

And as had been the case in the second-round game against Charlton when appearing for the last ten minutes, the Kent-born 18 year old looked a prospect to savour.

He’s unlikely to be involved in the squad for the game against Wolves on Sunday but on the basis of what we have seen so far this campaign in only two games, he looks a first-team cert sometime later this season or next.

A Hammers insider told us: “He was in a lot of pain but the problem was sorted in the dressing room to a large extent after the game and he will be back in training this week.”

  1. Have you read DS Talk Sport interview. Will the plonka ever learn. Having made a complete mess of hiring a Director of football by allowing Pellegrine to hire his mate he blames the fans. He then admits that he bullied the manager into signing Diop and Fabianski?? The suggestion is that all other signings were made by the Director of Football. He really must think the fans are stupid. Ryan Frederick’s was linked way before MP appointment. Maybe he was scouting him out in China? If you do have any links to Sullly. Please tell him to be quiet.

    • Couldn’t agree more Christopher, he says Manager should be responsible for all football matters, then says MP couldn’t be trusted and that he bullied him into signings, shows where the problem is at the club, the man at the top who writes the cheques.

As for will they ever learn, they were at Birmingham and now us and continue to be more or less the same, feel free to add your own answer to that question 😉

  2. Hugh
Didn’t Ashby play at right back with Alese in his natural center back position ?
Not sure he about him beinga regular yet , he’s only just been playing for the U21’s.
