Top pundit backs Irons to beat Hornets

Mark Lawrenson is back the Irons to win tomorrow evening’s crucial match at the London Stadium.

Despite the visitors having Danny Welbeck back in form and involved in a front three, the BBC believes the irons will have too much for the Hornets.

It couldn’t be more crucial as nobody truly wants to see the relegation issue going down to the last game and surely 37 points will be enough to see the Irons safe.

Lawrenson has been pretty pro Irons since the restart and the first thought was he would hedge his bets by going for a draw but he’s tipping the Hammers for a 2-1 win.

In the meantime all eyes will be on the clash at Goodison Park tonigjht with Villa taking on a team that hasn’t been beaten at home in 10 games and hasn’t suffered defeat against Villa since 2008 but stats of course aree of little comfort at this point – only results.

Writing on his BBC prediction column Lawro declared: This is a big opportunity for both teams to take a huge step towards survival, and I think it is West Ham who will take it.

If you analyse the Hammers’ performances since football restarted, they have actually been playing well – despite not winning every game.

Two wins in a week have given Watford a little bit of breathing space but I think their battle to stay up will go to the final day.

Lawro’s prediction: 2-1

  1. Recently West Ham United have been a force to reckon with although not all the latest results have reflected that . We are playing well and hopefully our momentum will see us through this most difficult of times .
