Whilst we know our club of old and won’t be getting too excited about the Max Kilman situation until he is pictured in a Claret and Blue kit with arms crossed for the PR photos, it does seem that a medical is booked today so, barring Zouma-esque undiagnosed dodgy knees we should all be seeing the West Ham official communique in the next 24 hours.

In-the-know Journalist Fabrizio Romano has called this with his trademark ‘Here we go’ declaration of a done deal with ‘medical due Friday:’ Mind you, he has been wrong once recently regarding our pursuit of Fabricio Bruno: So I guess he’s confident this time around and certainly wouldn’t call this ‘done’ without being pretty certain.

Interestingly, the same source claims to know the identity of the next targets – this originally dating back to earlier this week when he claimed we were on the cusp of three signings as reported on KUMB.

Steinberg’s transfer update suggests we are well on the route to signing a striker, midfielder and a winger , and have had talks with Southampton over signing Kyle Walker Peters as mentioned earlier in the week on C and H. Repeating the claim about Walker Peters coming – possibly in the exchange deal noted with Flynn Downes going to the Saints- is suggested as being the next piece of business.

The thought occurs to me that with those priorities, could it be that Emerson Palmieri isn’t going anywhere this window if we are ‘sticking’ with  just him plus Cress on the left. Interestingly, that contrasts with Simon’s piece in todays C and H: We will follow this with interest and see how it pans out.

Steinberg has been proven right with the £40 million signing so I’m pretty confident that more news will follow shortly exactly along the lines of the Max Kilman deal, which grew in rumour strength over the last week before crystallising yesterday: Expect the same thing in the next few days with Walker Peters, then the ‘striker, midfielder and winger’.

Why not. I’m positioning myself firmly in the ‘optimistic’ category as these incomings continue to materialise – ‘optimistic’ regardless of the customary negativity from some of the gloom merchants: To my mind,  it’s all change.  Decisive action, building strength in our squad and the Head Coach getting the players he wants. Now, that’s more like a massive club.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
