Tottenham 4-1 West Ham

Areola:5
Called into action early when he rushed out to deny Solanke a chance. Presumably under instruction to kick the ball long. Wonderful reflex save on 33 mins came from a deflected Romero shot. Nothing he could do with the equaliser. Going in the wrong direction for Spurs second when he was wrong-footed.

Wan Bissaka:7Ā Made the odd error but also made some incredible interceptions. Unfortunately was caught in attack chasing the game but overall and despite the way the game ended, I thought Wan Bissaka was a bright spark.

Todibo:5 Unlucky to be credited with an own goal and left on his own as Spurs scored their fourth. Got mugged by Solanke but somehow managed to rescue the situation.

Kilman:6 Threw himself to the ground to stop a goal-bound shot from Son. Impressive timing with his tackling.

Emerson:6 Began the game well with a couple of telling tackles and a good run forward. Like most of his teammates it was a game of two halves.

Rodriguez:6 Heavily involved, his early passing was poor but his tackling was excellent unfortunately pressure eventually told but he was decent enough in the first half.

Soucek:4 Not at the standards he’d set this season but made some telling blocks and tried to pass the ball early.

Paqueta:3 Did enough to stop Brennan Jonson from scoring an easy headed goal. Silly flicked pass led to Spurs equaliser.

Bowen:7 Excellent dribble and cross to set up Kudus early in the game. Repeated the move shortly after as West Ham took the lead. Dispossessed for Spurs 4th.

Kudus:7 Unlucky not to score on 10 mins but made no mistake eight minutes later when he put the Hammers 1-0 up. Back to his best with his dribbling and first touch. Should have played in Wan Bissaka just before Tottenham scored their third. Had a shot blocked on the line at 4-1. Got sent off for pushing two Spurs players in the face. Massive shame for a player who clearly became frustrated with how the game had panned out.

Antonio:5 Took one for the team and understandably looked knackered although one particular duel with Micky van de Ven was a highlight.

Tottenham 4-1 West Ham:Ā  tries to encourage Todibo

Substitutes

Soler: On for Soucek as part of a triple substitution on 60 mins.

Summerville: On for Antonio but swaps came a little too slowly and the game was over by the time replacements had been completed.

Alvarez: On for Paqueta

Mavropanos: 70th min sub for Rodriguez to stop any more damage.

Sorry but them ratings are awful….you must be watching a different game wtf 😳

  • Andrew says:

The red card for me is a blessing in disguise! Kudus for me has to stay in the starting 11 (when back) but for the next three games he has to start Summerville on the left – brilliant news!

You only have to read the previous posts to see that every fan knows that Paqueta and Sourcek have been passengers this season. Antonio is good to come on with 20 to go as he does not have the stamina to track back over 90. Effectively we are carrying 3 players. When you play a quality team you need all 11 players firing. High press needs pace and stamina. I was happy we made the change and happy to give J Lo a season but he needs to change the personnel.

  • Aleksandr says:

    Lopetegui must go.

  • Nigel Bands says:

Why no mention of how poor Aereola’s distribution was? Three of the Spurs goals came from our players losing the ball high up in the Spurs half. Souchek, PaquetĆ” and Bowen each conceded possession too easily and on each occasion they scored.

    • TommyD says:

Completely agree.. Areola’s distribution was absolutely shocking- cost us possession time and again and at least one goal. There’s no room in the modern game for a GK that consistently turns over possession as often as he did today….

    • S says:

I typically don’t like moaning about a keeper’s distribution and all that, since it’s far from the most important thing they do, but Arreola’s really was putrid today. He consistently just gave it right back or hit it towards no one. It really did cost us at times.

  • Ess_Bee says:

All the comments about Paq not showing any interest is an insult to the fans. I don’t care what is going on with the investigation he should be able to switch and focus and play hard for 90 minutes. Use the game as an outlet for his frustration.
This is where good man management comes in too.

How more times are we going to get a hammering this season?!? 🤬

  • Spurfect One says:

As a Spurs fan, i am very grateful for Paqueta, who looked so disinterested that he gave our midfield much needed assistance.

  • Gav says:

    So bad again!
We have just capitulated against the so called better teams!
Villa, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and now the scum!
We look so slow and as for the new defence….it’s embarrassing!
I don’t know where we go from here!
    #GUTTED….AGAIN.

  • Essexiron42 says:

FFS what is going on? We give away 3 goals in 7 minutes and Kudus just completely lost his head getting a straight red card and now misses next 3 games! Same defensive weaknesses and lack of leadership as we showed against Chelsea and Areola and Pacqeta complete shadows of the players they should be. Distribution awful from Areola and just gave possession to Spurs time after time inviting pressure back on our defence.
Huge pressure back on the manager now and surely questions must be asked about his future in the boardroom.

  • Neil Down Under says:

I’m really trying to be patient with Lopetegui, but if I were to rate him after this game, I’d be struggling to give him 1!
Every man and his dog can see Paquetta is a shadow of the player he was, how many goals against has he been responsible for now?
Why persist with him? It can’t be good for the player either.
We just seem so pedestrian too, I get the possession based football, and at times the passage of play looks good.
But it’s like we’re walking from box to box at times.
Not surprised Kudus got sent off, he must have been pi**ed off at being one of the few players today who actually looked like they gave a sh*t.
    Not happy.

  • Canadahammer says:

I don’t know why we didn’t make the subs after their 2nd goal. Waited too long and by then it was too late.
Antonio looked knackered and I can’t remember him winning a ball.
Unlucky with the third goal, which was the killer one IMHO
We can’t start with Paqueta and Soucek, need to give Rodriguez some help, with Alvarez and Soler.
Going to miss Kudus fir 3 games? Going to be tough, let’s hope Fullkrug is nearer to fitness and at least Summerville might get a couple of games under his belt!
Wan Bissaka our MOM for keeping up the effort!

    • S says:

I’ll give Rodriguez some help: a plane ticket back to Spain. He’s awful. Not insultingly disinterested like Paqueta, but he just gives us nothing out there but a body.

  • Martyn says:

Paqueta has to go, we can’t carry a show pony.
