Tottenham’s “huge Leeds worry” – fears voiced over final day roll over | West Ham News

With the relegation battle now down to the wire and just the two teams contesting the solitary space in the Premier League lifeboat, fans look anxiously ahead to the penultimate weekend. West Ham travel to St James’ Park  whilst Chelsea entertain Tottenham.

However, one Spurs fan site is looking beyond next weekend – to the last round of fixtures, already convinced that Leeds’ end of season complacency will influence the final standings and contribute to Tottenham facing the long drop into the Championship.

Hammers fans and Tottenham supporters evidently share the same fears about the season finale: Just a few days ago it felt all done and dusted after the Irons lost to VARsenal, but after Spurs failed to capitalise, perhaps there is still life in the battle.

Spurs fans evidently think it is far from over. According to hotspurhq.com:

“Tottenham suddenly have a huge Leeds worry in Premier League relegation battle

“Leeds have already, like Nottingham Forest, secured their safety in the Premier League for the 2026/27 season, which has left it entirely between Tottenham and West Ham in the fight for survival. They may talk about how they are playing for pride and want to get every point possible, but it is only natural for the Peacocks to have less motivation on Matchday 38 against West Ham than they did on Monday against Tottenham.

Tottenham have seen teams roll over and die when it comes time for them to give the Lilywhites a result that benefits them, and Leeds smell like a team that is going to get its neck torn off at the jugular point by West Ham.

West Ham fans, along with the players and management, will not be looking that far ahead.

Still hoping – West Ham look no further than a pivotal St James’ s Park trip this weekend

The game at St James’ Park on Sunday is pivotal as, without three points in that game, West Ham United can find themselves relegated before setting foot on the turf for the finale on 24th against a Leeds side who thoroughly deserve their Premier League status next season.

Tottenham may fret about Leeds’ performance on that last day, but the biggest concern must surely be be to see which version of Chelsea rocks to to play the Spuds on Tuesday next week, just three days after their FA Cup final. By which time the Hammers could have snatched back eighteenth position and hold a slender one point lead.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

What a load of Tosh that opinion is, if we don’t beat Newcastle then we will be relegated Spurs have an easy win against Chelsea which would put them safe and the last game won’t matter, Eddie Howe teams never make it easy for you and we need a performance from the ages to win. Leeds have already shown they will play against the Spuds.

  • Morty says:

You are right Martin, this week is pivotal. Nothing less than 3 points will do at Newcastle and we have to hope Spurs get nothing at Chelsea. Then it’s in our own hands going into the last game with Leeds

  • Smodgee says:

One thing I noticed about Tottenham against Leeds, The players don’t seem to LIKE each other,, They are an angry bunch..

  • Smodgee says:

I hope Leeds put in the same effort as Aston Villa when they played Spurs,, Drop 7 first team players,,

    HAHAHA De Zerbi.

  • P.Addy says:

Did the Tottenham fans not watch Villa roll over and die, the Villa players were making sure they didn’t get injured for the Forest game, they handed Spurs 3 points on a platter, they need to stop whinging.

  • D says:

I believe This point is totally incorrect as Leeds were already safe when they played spurs on Monday they didn’t need the point they got. So I wouldn’t expect Leeds to roll over like Villa did against spurs. But I hope they do roll over 😃

  • John Ayris says:

It is very feasible that Tottenham could lose both at Chelsea and at home to Everton. Both are better teams than Tottenham.

But that would still leave us where we could not blow out. No excuses, nothing that doesn’t measure up, it’s do or die.

I’d rather our games than theirs, and we could still do and die.

It’s us playing catch up so we are not favourites.

  • Lee says:

Like Villa v Spurs maybe ….

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

    Snatched back 17th I hope, Martin. 🙂

Also, this quote: …”but it is only natural for the Peacocks to have less motivation on Matchday 38 against West Ham than they did on Monday against Tottenham”

    Why?

Leeds knew they were safe from relegation before they played Spurs, with us having lost against VARsenal, so it is absolutely no different. If anything, Leeds will want to end their season on a high and come for a game. So that’s total nonsense from the Spuds.

  • Jeeps says:

Spurs had their day when Villa rolled over for them.
Can’t have any complaints if Leeds do same for Whu.
All this conspiracy theory has been fuelled by VAR.
Need to make sure there’s a win at Newcastle.
Appears Whu/Leeds/Newcastle/Chelsea/Forest fans are all rooting for Whu.
What it is to be loved.
