“Reinforcing” a relegation rival by acceding to their loan request for one of West Ham United’s own squad might seen a strange thing to do – until revealing that the player in question is James Ward Prowse who has been ‘banished’ by Nuno, and has pretty much zero chance of pulling on a West Ham shirt again.

According to yesterday’s Sun.co.uk, Burnley are considering making a loan bid for the midfielder’s services which would present something of a conundrum for the West Ham board, bearing in mind that the last thing a club should do is reinforce their immediate relegation rivals .

“SunSport understands Scott Parker’s Clarets are considering making a loan move to end the former Southampton man’s hell in East London, though an approach is yet to be made.

Whether West Ham would entertain offloading a player to a club that is also fighting the drop remains to be seen.”

If the loan offer is eventually forthcoming -and includes picking up the ‘cast-off”s £100k plus weekly wages then more than likely the Hammers board will grant the loan in an effort to shave cash from the wage bill.

From a purely humane standing it would be good to see ‘JWP’ get some game time before his career ends. At West Ham he’s permanently ‘up on blocks’ akin to a forgotten classic car with no wheels and no prospect of taking to the track again.

At least with Burnley he’d get out for a spin and no doubt discover the new lease of life that Nuno seems unable to offer.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Ex Hammer Josh Cullen is out for some time with injury I imagine Scot Parker sees JWP as a like for like replacement. Personally I agree with other comments on here that he should still be a member of our squad

True,JWP has been very unfairly treated but what I don’t get is whilst he is not first choice why isn’t he used as an impact player for last 10 or 15 minutes when we are no doubt chasing the game. He hasn’t lost the art of delivering a killer ball. We are still paying his wages or am I missing something?

Regardless of what you think of JWP as a player, he seems popular among the squad, and the way he is being treated is shocking, in my opinion.
Good luck to him for the future – why are West Ham bothered about letting him go on loan. Reinforcing a relegation rival – he’s useless isn’t he ???

And finally score the free kick he hasn’t been able to get for us.
