A top West Ham source has revealed to Claret & Hugh that the club is locked in negotiations for several transfer targets.
While it’s safe to assume at least two of the targets are names previously discussed in the West Ham transfer gossip grapevine, it appears there are at least two who remain shrouded in mystery.
Clearly, West Ham has had to increase their urgency following an insipid display against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which highlighted many deficiencies within the squad. Although it’s important not to read too much into a pre-season friendly, the Midlands club did appear a level above the Hammers at this early point.
The 3-1 loss in wet and windy Jacksonville highlighted areas of the squad that immediately need addressing, and surely these are the areas where West Ham are looking to strengthen.
It seems that West Ham are in need of five players, and the positions requiring reinforcement will come as a surprise to no one.
A central defensive partner for Max Kilman would appear to be a must, particularly if Nayef Aguerd departs as expected.
West Ham’s need for a right back is probably the worst kept secret in football, and the Hammers remain in talks with Manchester United for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The whole world knows that West Ham are desperate for a striker, which is presumably why negotiations with Aston Villa for Jhon Duran have taken so long.
This leaves two positions that I believe are just as important, even if they haven’t received the same level of media scrutiny in the transfer gossip columns. New Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui has been trying to sign a midfielder since he signed his West Ham contract, and it’s clear to see why.
The return of Edson Alvarez will certainly help in that regard, but he will miss the start of the season due to injury. When he doesn’t play, West Ham’s midfield doesn’t function. In essence, the Hammers need to purchase a regular first-team starter in midfield.
The final area that needs addressing is the graveyard shift on the left-hand side of West Ham’s attack. This role has been a place where players have gone to shrivel up and die in recent years, and in West Ham terms, the left flank is a career killer.
The Hammers need to purchase a specialist for the left-hand side, ideally someone who can hit the ground running. Mohammed Kudus is a magnificent player and, of course, left-footed, but he has half the impact if he starts the game on the left-hand side, which nullifies his ability to shoot from distance.
Therefore, while there may have been some surprise that West Ham are looking at multiple targets, it’s clear why they’re doing so.
Surely you can ‘t be talking about the same MR MOYES who has left the squad in a such a mess that it will require at least 8 top players for rebuilding the team . and. obviously way beyond the. budget available in the short term.
WHY ?
Let’s just see what team lines up in our first league game then we will see how much **** we are in lol
As always in the transfer market blabbing about who we are interested in which just pushes the fee up, stating players are about to sign who then go elsewhere.
No idea, never have had never will have
In a few weeks people who wanted David moyes out might be eating their words
where’ s all the money coming from?
I love the locked in transfer negotiations thing. I like to imagine they are all locked in a room somewhere until they come to an agreement. With several negotiations going on at the same time though it must be complicated. Perhaps locked in several different rooms for say an hour at a time? Obviously they probably have a break for wine and cheese. Coffee tea and biscuits on tap for Sullivan. Wine and cheese for Brady. Steidten probably has a pint of Heineken.
I know right 🤣🤣 just to make us think
There really trying hard to put a normal bid in 🤣 rather than 15 mil payed over 7 years fir a player values at 40 mil …that’s exactly why we have this sh#t
Ex is saying that Wan Bissaka is very close. Confidence from within the club that this deal will be concluded.
Doom and Gloom clickbait!!!
The Wolves game was irrelevant. It was an exhibition match for an American audience and a fitness workout for both squads, nothing more. West Ham started with a completely different eleven to that what finished.
Julen and Tim will have everything in order….. New players will be coming in with an equal number leaving – if not for the Villa match but in time for the transfer window close. I’m not at all concerned by what’s written by any West Ham social media.
With respect, mate , we have been hearing the same saying for weeks and nothing happens…we can’t even get one over the line …let alone 5 ….(.several targets!)??…on sky we didn’t dobthe deal with the bayern Munich lad even though they accepted our bid it was to do with his contract we offered ….I’m afraid it’s ways either a very very insulting low bid to the club..or wages …for instance we didn’t sign the brazilian defender at tye start of the window because west ham wanted to pay the same wages as his old club
.(sorry, I forgot what club)…….40k a week…🤣🤣no wonder he didn’t want to come in the end ….pay Ings 125 k but 40k for decent defender…same with Ben..wouldn’t pay him 50 ……I think that says it all really
Zaha incoming for the left side you watch
Better than what we currently have..
As we have seen from last season zoumas legs have gone and even if we take a hit on his transfer he must be replaced.
