Transfer news: is Maiga set for £6m Saudi switch?

maigaSocial media and West Ham online forums are alive with speculation that Modibo Maiga is set to fly out to Saudi Arabia this week to complete a £6 million switch AlNassr.

Maiga joined Metz last season on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy. But that deal failed to materialise after Metz were relegated.

The player signed for West Ham for a reported £4.7m from Sochaux, scoring seven goals for the Hammers in 40 appearances.

Metz were thought to paying just 20 per cent of Maiga’s £30,000-per-week salary last season, and the Hammers are said to be keen to get him off the wage bill.

He has just under one year remaining on his West Ham contract, which means he pockets around £1.5m.

  1. Hahaha, what balm pots are ever going to pay £6m for Maiga.Snap their hands off if they are.Wow,i would accept 6 quid for him to get him to p*ss off for good 😀

  2. £6 million – you’ve got to be joking – I know the Saudi’s have oil money coming out of every orifice but they’re not fools!

  3. Shhh!!
Tyson and Miller, we don’t want to put the Saudis off.

Maiga is brilliant, please don’t let him go. He is just coming into stunning goalscoring form!

btw, Would they like us to send him for a medical tomorrow?

  4. Lets hope so would provide some capital to put into a replacement.

  5. hmmmmm just a thought are they paying us or are we paying them more the latter me thinks lol

  6. Blimey,if we could get 6 million for Maiga it will be Dick Turpin territory.£6m for Maiga makes one leg with or without ligaments on Austin worth £15m on its own.

  7. We have got to pay them £6 million to take him would be more like it,
If we could let him leave free it would be a miracle,
We can’t be that lucky, have the Spuds offered Us Townsend for Nolan or can I wake up now

  8. now would be the time to sell. His price went up after scoring the other day. However we have a striker injury crisis at the moment. Sakho Valencia Carroll all injured.
