One week to go and the lack of any defensive additions to the West Ham United squad is getting tongues wagging and nails bitten amongst Hammers fans who have had to watch the worst defence in the Premier League struggle for a season and a half.

Whether it be lack of funds or targets refusing to join relegation-threatened West Ham, the end result is still the same and the reliance upon the shaky trio of Mavropanos, Kilman and Todibo continues to threaten the Hammers’ Premier League survival.

Nuno’s ‘rebalancing’ continues however as work behind the scenes continues. Whilst tinkering with fringe players may produce ‘Titanic and deckchairs’ comparisons, it does seem as though there is further change in the pipeline.

Ahead of the reported ‘done deal’ from Fabrizio Romano this morning over Guido Rodriguez’ exit – along with the seemingly inevitable appearance of Nuno’s favourite Adama Traore, we approached our source within West Ham last night for confirmation over both players’ futures.

It seems the speculation that “Adama Traore in and Guido Rodriguez out” might be a little premature – but our high ranking source confirmed last night:

“Both moving in the right direction, neither done”:

Guido Rodrigues at The London Stadium

Finally on the way – Rodriguez surely departing this window

Fans will have their own opinion as to the merits of the Adama Traore addition: Once complete at least it offers a little comfort of a winger to cover for Summerville or Bowen injuries.

The sharp eyed among you will not have missed the hole this leaves in the West Ham squad – perhaps a late recall to the bench for James Ward-Prowse beckons today as Nuno covers for midfielder Rodriguez’ departure?

In the meantime West Ham fans will remain distinctly unimpressed and seek news concerning defensive upgrades as being more likely to effect the club’s Premier League survival chances.

Shipping out a fringe player or bringing in a squad winger isn’t likely to contribute much towards improving the dreadful defensive record which sees the Irons with a ‘minus twenty’ goal difference.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

After the brilliant performance and result today I refuse to let the signing of one of the worst players in the premier league ruin the day! I’ll wait till tomorrow 🤣🤣 I hope to goodness they haven’t spent any money on the show pony from Fulham
