Treatment room update gives team selection clue

Sam-Byram-637845Sam Byram looks certain to hold on to the right back position against West Brom despite a lack lustre match against Watford last weekend.

The Irons top medic Stijn Vandenbroucke has revealed in his latest treatment room update that
Alvaro Arbeloa is set to play a part in the EFL Cup against Accrington Stanley next week and that means Byram will almost certainly again be trusted with the right back slot against the Baggies on Saturday.

Vandenbroucke says it has been a calm week  with Mark Noble the only new face  in the tratement room but says he will be fit and available to face West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Mark required eight stitches in his left hand after a Watford player trod on it during last weekend’s game. He was in some discomfort and pain during the second half.

Stijn adds: “Aaron Cresswell and Andre Ayew are both progressing very well and have both been running this week as they continue their recoveries from a knee and thigh injury respectively.”

He adds that Andy Carroll too had a week during which he has made good progress and says he is also running on the pitch. He is reported as working hard, although it will take time before he is ready to return to action.

He also revealed: “And finally Diafra Sakho is progressing. He has been running up and down the stairs at London Stadium and skipping as he continues to build up his fitness, and is now ready to take the next stage by increasing his training.”

  1. AC running? Only another 13 weeks to wait before he regains match fitness then 🙂

  2. Yeah & the lot who have already heralded Zaza a Minger after one premier match will be telling all who will listen how the China Doll must be given half a dozen games to be Premier League ready & back to his best lol

  3. I hope it’s true sounds as though he is some way away, let’s see our new strikers get a run of games, Martinez can’t stop scoring for the under 23’s hopefully he will get a run out against Accrington. Good luck Sam Byram against the baggies I am happy he will have a chance to make amends.
